Stayed here 2 nights during a Serengeti safari. Truly lovely tented camp with “glamping” facilities. Great food as well... 5 star for all. Camp staff super friendly and attentive. You are truly surrounded by the beautiful Serengeti!

Their ability to create great meals, keep the tented rooms clean, and provide impeccable service in this location is nothing short of amazing. There is no running water (they truck it in from 70 km away!), but they provide heated showers, hand washing basins, and clean restrooms. Their food was some of the best we experienced on our safari, and their environmental stewardship was great to see in action. From glass carafes of drinking water, to solar panel lighting for the tents, and sustainable packaging for the picnic lunches, we could not complain! Their staff was eager to please and focused on safety. Guides were mandatory if you needed to leave the tent after dark. One night we realized our 'porch' light was still on. Even unzipping the tent a couple of feet to reach the switch prompted a guide to start running to our tent to assist. We stayed here three nights and by the end of our stay we knew we were going to miss Nicholas from the dining area and the rest of the staff that made us feel welcome. We highly recommend the Serengeti Halisi Camp!…

We embarked on a trip to the Serengeti and decided that sleeping in a tented camp would provide a more genuine experience vs a lodge or hotel for our family. John and his crew made it an unforgettable stay. The tents, beds and facilities were of high class (remember it is a tented camp) food and service was good, fast and friendly. If you think camping is tough/hardship, then visit John and his team in the Serengeti.

When I first checked out this camp on line, I was concerned it could be a little too rustic. However, our family thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay. This is a tented camp in the middle of the Serengeti. It is located about a mile from the nearest main dirt road. On arrival, we were greeted by John, the manager of the camp, who is outstanding (you soon understand that the camp is extremely well run thanks largely to him). He explained all the guidelines for the camp and how to use the shower, toilet, etc. He also explained that if you need to leave you tent after dark, you need to flash your flash light and a staff member will immediately be there to escort you. This is an important safety point, since you are in the middle of a park with wild animals roaming around. Our first night there, a lion was spotted moving along the edge of camp. The staff helped move it along and none of us felt unsafe during our stay. There are approximately ten tents. Our whole family was on the trip so our son and his family had one of the family tents and my wife, daughter and I shared a tent with a double and two single beds. The tents were large with a water proof floor and even a porch with chairs. The toilet was a compost toilet which was fine. The shower was wonderful. You arranged a time for the shower and the staff would heat the water and put it is a large bucket outside the tent. All you needed to do was turn on the shower knob and you had a hot shower. The beds, with beautiful white bedding, were very comfortable. Each day would start with a great breakfast with eggs cooked to order. There was plenty of coffee and tea plus several juices. The dinner meals were delicious. It is amazing the quality of the food provided especially given the location. They also had wine available for a small fee. Every evening when we returned from our game drive, John and some staff were there to greet you with wet washcloths and a cool drink. This was a great place and I would highly recommend it.…

The first friendly face you see is manager John welcoming you with hot towels and juice. Your tired, hot and dusty because you’ve been in the Serengeti all day. Your bags are taken to your tent/room that has nice large bed, safari shower (that is hot) and functioning flush bathroom. Meals are delicious, wine, beer are available. They have a fire pit that looks out at the silhouette of Acacia trees of the dark. Going to sleep hearing zebras and hyenas and waking up to see a glorious Serengeti sunrise is sublime.

We had a great family-of-four experience with the Serengeti Halisi Camp which we visited for several days as part of an REI Family trip the Tanzania & the Serengeti. The food was great and the staff were amazingly friendly & thoughtful. Most of all, their ingenuity is incredible to create such a wonderful & safe experience for us right in the middle of the magical Serengeti plains.

We stayed two nights in this place. Tented camp, spacious tents with even hot bush shower on demand. Very friendly staff who are committed to provide you an unforgettable experience. Good food and excellent staff who really care about you and provide great service: hot water bag in bed, assisted in changing wheels and make you feel safe in between the wild animals. Thank you John and your team. In summary an outstanding true safari experience!

We stayed 3 nights at the Halisi Serengeti camp, and wish we could have stayed longer! We were so sad to leave. The tents are so comfortable, the food delicious, and the staff so welcoming and gracious! The location in the Serengeti is amazing - we saw elephants, giraffes, and water buffalo every day on our way in and out of camp. The staff takes great care of you... bringing warm water for showers on request and placing hot water bottles in your bed to warm it up when its cold! If we get the chance to return to the Serengeti, we will definitely go to Halisi to stay with John and his wonderful team!

My mom, sister and I spent 3 nights at Halisi Camp during a safari this month and it was our favorite stop! John and his crew were so wonderful and friendly, and they made our stay a delight. Every night before dinner we enjoyed a cocktail around the fire enjoying the lovely sunset through the bush. We took a hot air balloon ride nearby (which they can help arrange for you with Serengeti Balloon Safaris, highly recommend) and flew over the camp by chance. Everyone came running out to wave at us, and the whole crew was so excited to talk about it with us when we returned. The food was always superb, including the lunch packs provided which had a large spread serves on glass plates with real silverware to reduce waste. The beds were comfortable and while rustic, the accommodations were lovely and well-kept!…
