River Camp is renowned for its excellent location, purposefully residing a few meters from the famous Mara River, where the dramatic experience of hundreds of thousands of Wildebeest, Zebra and Gazelle seek to cross the Crocodile infested river. Here, the fight for survival is extremely evident. Most of our guests are caught off-guard with just how dramatic the crossing is. Lions and Hyenas are found in great numbers as they also seek to exploit upon the weak links of this annual migration. River Camps offers the most exquisite siting with the comfort of luxury service and accommodation beautifully intertwined to give you a unique safari experience.

The very best thing about the Serengeti River Camp was the people who work there. My friend became ill while there and they quickly provided a medication that helped almost immediately. They also checked on her each time they saw her. The tent was fairly basic but comfortable. We could not use a hair dryer because the electricity was solar, but we had plenty of hot water for showers and the wifi worked fine. We heard zebras munching a braying outside of our tent during the night. We loved out stay there.

We had a wonderful stay here! We were in one of the newer units - not really a tent although it has canvas walls so you get the rustic feel. Extremely nice accommodations with a spacious bedroom and lovely bath. The lodge is modern and lovely. Food was above average. The staff is friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.

Second time to the camp and the camp has improved greatly by adding a number of permanent structures as seen in the photos. It is a great location near the Mara River where the wildebeests cross over from Kenya. On game drives, besides the crossing many other species of native wildlife can be seen. The friendly staff during our stay was outstanding. They made some special accommodations for my wife who had recently broken her toe and had some difficulty walking. I can say enough how wonderful the whole experience around River Camp was.

We (husband and I) decided to treat ourselves to a safari in Tanzania once we became empty nesters. Our safari started here. And what a great choice recommended by our tour operator! We were here at the end of September primarily to see the crossing. Decided to stay 3 nights instead of 2 to maximize our chances of viewing a crossing. Saw 2 crossings on the second day itself - fabulous! The camp is well located - a short distance from the Mara river. Our room was great - not too far from the main tent. Shower and toilet set up well. Hot showers! Good toiletries. Lots of space for luggage. Great view of the sunset. And when you head out in the morning, great view of the sunrise from the parking lot. But what makes this camp special is the staff. Thoughtful is the word that comes to mind. Issa and Moshe have a great staff with everyone doing just that little bit extra to make you feel special. I thanked Francis one morning at breakfast for the hot milk for tea/coffee (why can't we have that in the US??) and he beamed and brought me another cup exactly the way I like mine. The next morning when I went to grab my coffee, he took the time to rinse my cup with hot water and then poured out the coffee for me. Collins, always ready with a smile and happy to chat about your day. Chef who spoiled us with a great spread every day. We are very touched by the care shown by the staff and highly recommend this camp. Asante sana!

Dear Desibabe, Jambo from the heart of Serengeti Mara River Camp! Reading through your experience paints a heartwarming picture of the moments you cherished during your stay with us. As empty nesters embarking on a thrilling safari adventure, we are thrilled to know that Mara River Camp was the perfect starting point for you. Indeed, seeing the crossings is a spectacle unlike any other, and we're overjoyed to know that you were able to witness not one, but two, during your stay! Our strategic location near the Mara river is meant to maximize such opportunities for our cherished guests. Your kind words about our accommodations, from the meticulously arranged toiletries to the ample space for luggage, resonate deeply with our ethos of ensuring comfort for every guest. And of course, witnessing the awe-inspiring play of colors during sunrise and sunset from our camp is something we consider a gift of nature, and we're glad you cherished it too. However, what truly warmed our hearts is your acknowledgment of our dedicated staff. Issa, Moshe, Francis, Collins, our chef, and the entire team, indeed work tirelessly, always adding that personal touch to make every guest's experience unique and memorable. Your appreciation means the world to them and reaffirms our belief in the importance of heartfelt hospitality. It's feedback like yours that drives us to continually raise the bar. We're elated that we could be a part of your Tanzanian adventure, and we genuinely hope to welcome you back, perhaps when the wanderlust strikes again. Karibu Tena and Asante sana! The Mara River Camp is truly in the middle of wilderness with so much wild life that you're well advised to not step out at night without a staff escort. We spent two magical nights at this camp, first of the two nights of our 14-night safari! Our accommodation was very comfortable, good bed with mosquito net and spacious, clean bathroom with hot shower. We arrived just in time for watching impressive array of sunset colors in the sky. Dinner was quite a selection of elaborate buffet, and the chef prepared some special vegetarian items for us. Next morning, we had to get ready early for Balloon Safari at sunrise, but River Camp's convenient location allowed us to sleep a few extra minutes. After a full day of thrilling activities - Balloon Safari, Migration/River crossing at #2, and first sighting of so many wild animals, we were happy to return to River Camp at night for another restful evening. Watching the river crossing by thousands of wildebeests and zebras was like watching National Geographic live. The River Camp's location is very convenient, and we saw many wildebeests, zebras and giraffes grazing around the property. Special shout out to Mr. Issa (Lodge Manager) and Mabwega (Staff) for taking such good care of us. Thank you very much (Asante sana!!) for making our stay thoroughly enjoyable and memorable. We had booked our safari directly with Karibu Camp, so we also stayed at two of their other properties - Serengeti Sametu Camp and Ngorongoro Lion's Camp. We stayed two nights at each of the properties, and would have loved to stay a few more nights. The River Camp is very clean, food is delicious, and staff truly cares for your comfort. We would highly recommend to stay at Karibu Camp's lodges for the best safari experience.

Dear 555yatint, Jambo from Serengeti Mara River Camp! Your description paints such a vivid picture, and we're absolutely thrilled to know that you had such a memorable experience at our camp. Indeed, witnessing the wildebeest river crossing is akin to living a National Geographic moment in real time, and it's fantastic to hear that our camp provided the perfect vantage point for this. Your appreciation for the accommodation, from the comfort of the beds to the timely hot showers, is deeply valued. We're pleased that our chef's special vegetarian preparations added a touch of delight to your dining experience. Your early morning adventure for the Balloon Safari sounds like it was well worth the early rise, and we're glad our camp's location allowed for those extra few moments of rest. Mr. Issa, Mabwega, and the entire team at Mara River Camp are delighted by your kind shoutout. Your words reflect the love, care, and dedication they put into their roles every single day. We loved staying at this lodge for 3 nights while we explored the amazing northern Serengeti. The “tents” are just lovely - more like luxury small cabins with ample modern amenities. The upgraded “tents” are spectacular with a lovely shower and large double sink area. The bed was very comfortable. Yet the standout aspect of this property are the staff! The manager is authentically committed to your comfort while in his care, and he made our stay so enjoyable. The second manager Joseph is truly charming and we enjoyed laughing with him during every encounter. Such a warm people! The food is great, and we enjoyed happy hour every night watching the beautiful sunset over the horizon serenaded by the sounds of the night. Stay here if visiting the area as an exceptional home away from home.

The location and service cannot be beat! The beds are comfy and the fact that you can (sometimes walk amongst!!) see and hear wildebeest, zebras, elephants, hyenas all night is a once in a lifetime experience. They have really created a wonderful, welcoming and comfortable space in the middle of the jungle. One bight the elephants feasted right outside our tent in the pitch dark! There were some small inconveniences that come from being in the wild that if addressed would make this a world-class property. Starting with providing floor fans in the tents (or on request) in the sweltering August heat. The nights cool down dramatically but the afternoons are unbearable. The food options could be improved along with the replenishing. The bar was out of ice a few times. These are minor things in the light of the larger, UNFORGETTABLE wildlife experience but at the steep price point should be addressed. Now for the best part - the staff! Collins and the others really make you feel at home and we miss their smiling faces. The best was when they baked a special cake upon our request for our amazing guide's birthday celebration in a day's notice and then sang and danced to celebrate him. They are truly talented singers too! The fact that the trip included us seeing 3 wildebeest migrations, the most adorable Cheetah family, a leopard with a kill and the unmatched beauty of Northern Serengeti is enough but the stay here always assured that there would be a warm welcome waiting for us after our 10 hours in the car everyday! Thank you, Team River Camp!

It's an absolute pleasure to learn that your time with us was filled with such memorable wildlife encounters. How thrilling it must have been to have the elephants dine just outside your tent! Stayed at the Serengeti River Camp for two nights while on an 8 day safari. This location is great because it is near one of the river crossings sights along the Mara river. What really stands out of this place is the staff. The two that went over and beyond with excellent service was Collins and Godlisten. If you need anything ask for these guys! Collins knows where they keep the best hot sauce in TZ!
