Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Spent three nights here. Location allows you to walk to Victoria Falls or the local town unlike most accommodation where you are bussed in. Rooms are spacious and pleasant with generous balconies and mini bars. Great wildlife viewing from here including hippos every night. The thing that lets the place down is the restaurant. We had dinner here on the first night. It was pretentious and the food was confusing - too many flavours (ostrich doesn't need popcorn and candied fruit on it!). We also had breakfast here. The food was uncovered and flies were all over it (hygiene aspects should be resolved at the price people are paying and it would be an easy win). The first day I had a piece of plastic in my drink and on the second day the juice had gone off. Also asked for a change to my breakfast order which they acknowledged and then didn't provide.

Superb location from where you can see the "smoke" from the falls. Wonderful food served on the open terrace. Friendly and helpful staff. The highlight is sitting on your balcony watching the wildlife in the garden all around you - including the nightly Hippo visit.

The lodge is beautiful, the service, accommodation, & food was wonderful! A few small issues with flying insects in room requiring a net around bed, & shower water getting all over bathroom floor making it slippery. Otherwise, no complaints! Had a wonderful trip, & enjoyed the lodge immensely!

Exceptionally beautiful and well-maintained property! Everything was absolutely topnotch; so much old-world charm. Room and bathroom were clean and large; there was a mini fridge, tea/coffee, etc. Breakfast was very good; there’s a large breakfast buffet with the cold options, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins, etc., and then you can also order the hot options from a menu. We also ate lunch and dinner there, and they were very good. We would’ve liked to stay longer! The pool area is beautiful too - nice warm pool. Very easily walkable to the Victoria Falls Park entrance – we walked there in about 10 – 15 minutes, then walked the length of the park, and back again, all before lunch. Just to note, there's only one point of entry and exit to the park. The art and craft market right next to the hotel is also great – lots of treasures to find! There are two art stands just to the left of the entrance – both exceptional artists. We bought a drawing of a baobab tree from a young artist, Clement. We had it framed and treasure it. There’s also a local band playing outside with hand-crafted instruments – not to be missed! They have a sound we’d never heard before – very melodic and memorable. The only downside, and the hotel can’t help this, but there are helicopter tours flying overhead pretty much all day. It’s unfortunate, because this detracts from the beautiful, peaceful feeling the hotel has. All of the hotels in the area would be in the same situation though.

The room was quite nice, equipped with capable AC, fridge and a good shower. Unfortunately, there is no mosquito net, but only bottled repellent. Th eroom was spacious and very tidy. A pleasant surprise for a backward country like Zimbabwe, not for international standards. Th erestuarant was one of the best, we found in the area.

We had a wonderful two nights at Ilala Lodge. The room was very confortable and the setting was perfect - we could see the spray from Victoria Falls in the distance from our room. There was also a range of pubs within walking distance and we had a couple of great meals out in the evenings. The staff were wecoming and hospitable and made every effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfast was great with a range of drinks and food available, There was a small pool which was lovely to make use of after a tour of the Falls A great place to stay.

A wonderful hotel only minutes from the falls. Everything about this hotel was great. Rooms are large and comfortable with views on to the landscaped gardens which attract visiting wildlife. The staff are very friendly (particularly Keith at reception) and extremely helpful, especially Tina who made sure we saw and did everything we could during our short stay. Breakfast is buffet style plus items cooked to order. The dinner menu is multinational and should please most visitors.
