I went to check in late at night but received a warm welcome, none the less. My room was beautiful and neat, located by the pool which is situated in a lovely garden and on both nights I had peaceful sleep. I loved that there was WiFi and full DsTV bouquet, also appreciated having a coffee station in the room. All in all it was a brilliant stay and I highly recommend The Capital Guesthouse, which I would gladly visit again!

The accomodation and service was excellent. But need to include breakfast in your service. Breakfast should be provided by the Guest house.

The location of the guest house is in a perfect area which is quite and suitable for reading and report writing after a conference.

The rooms are lovely and newly appointed. Breakfast was great. We ordered Debonair's delivery pizza for dinner, which arrived with no problem at all. Easy access to the airport, Diagnofirm(for covid PCR test) and retail shops. Thanks for a great stay.

I was surprised to arrive and asked how much my room rate was (had to convert from USD to BWP. Why was this a hassle upon check in? I was also told my room wasn’t paid for even though I received confirmation from Priceline that it was charged to my card. This was also an issue when I checked out. Spent at least half an hour feeling interrogated about my booking and paying for our room. I’ve never experienced this before and it was not pleasant! Really disappointed that we lost time over this as it’s not often that we travel to Africa and missed out on visiting people we wanted to see.

Dear Guest, We sincerely apologize for the confusion at check in and payment verification. Unfortunately in the first two months of this year, we had issues with our booking platform and payments. The only way we could verify a booking was by requesting for proof of reservation and payment from guests. Most of the OTAs we use send both proof of reservation and of payment to guests upon booking and paying. This is done to enable guests to prove their booking and payment upon check in, should they be required to do so. In your case your booking was confirmed and guaranteed with a credit card, however it was not paid, thus you had to use your card to pay at reception. I agree with you that our systems must work efficiently at all times to avoid check in delays and request for proof of payments. I apologize for this and can assure you that our systems are now working efficiently . Yours Sincerely Management

The rooms were very small and totally overpriced. I have requested my invoice many times and keep getting promises that it would be sent but they don't. There are many other guesthouses and hotels around that offer way more for less.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. To cater for our diverse market in terms of price , we provide a range of room sizes from the 12 m2 Standard Room through the Luxury Room which is medium size to the large and spacious Premium Room (36m2). Obviously prices on these vary with the standard room being the cheapest and the Premium the most expensive. These are competitively priced. I am sorry that you picked the smallest room when making your booking, maybe not realizing its size. We will look into our online room description and see if we can make improvements there. Should you have asked to be moved to a bigger room and there was availability, I am sure our team would have gladly assisted. Thank you again for your feedback. Yours Sincerly Management

Nice clean guest house with clean rooms but what I can’t understand is...how can you(the staff) miss that 2 lights are not working in the room? If you do your job you will pick it up right away. I felt “out of place” and uncomfortable because felt like you’re always being “checked” on. It should be an easy going and relaxing environment. Rather go to Apartment @ 125.

I chose the Capital Guesthouse because the photo on the website looked so lovely but I soon realized that it was an unwise decision. Since I was the only guest, I’m inclined to think other people may have known not to stay there.

The house is ultra-modern, decorated in impersonal shades of cream and tan. Both the décor and the temperature were cold and unwelcoming. The breakfast area is an outdoor patio screened from the backyard by a canvas partition. I was there in July, winter in Botswana, and I had to eat breakfast wearing a down jacket.

I never met the owner, Letts, who delegated responsibility to Joyce, a woman who was both obsequious and aggressive, constantly requesting that I compliment her on her service.

I cannot recommend this place.

Dear Travelled TO, Thank you very much for choosing to stay at The Capital. I am very sorry for your bad experience. I am terribly disappointed that we were not able to meet your expectations as we have done with almost all our guests in the last 7 years of operation. I can also tell that you were not impressed with our deco and the outdoor patio where we served you breakfast. You also felt that you were alone in the guest house. Our occupancy is usually quite high especially during the peak tourism season of May to Sept . You may have been the only guest at the breakfast patio when you came to eat, but you certainly were not the only guest at the property that night. Our breakfast has always been served in our covered patio with a gas patio heater used on cold winter mornings. I am sorry that it was not warm enough for you, maybe you should have asked that you be served in one of our 2 indoor lounges. I am sure Joyce would have gladly set a table for you there. I must however indicate that most guests have complimented us on our deco and hospitality. Joyce has been singled out as an outstanding hostess by the majority of them. This is the first time she has been described by a guest as aggressive and negging for compliments. Most of our over 140 international tripadvisor reviewers have a very high regard for the quality of service and facilities, thus qualifying us for the tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for this year and the last 4 years. For the same period we have been rated No.1 guest house in Gaborone by tripadvisor, a position we still hold. Joyce has been at the centre of this quality service. I must at the same time accept your comments , though I might not do much regarding the deco and the outdoor eating area, I can assure you that I have raised your above service concerns with Joyce and we will work on improving them and keeping our high service standards Thank you for your feedback. Letts

The Capital guesthouse is located in a surburb in Gaberone. They offer very clean accomodation, a tasty breakfast and a very peaceful environment. Mama Joyce and her staff took good care of us. We spent our nights on the downstairs patio and we had a lot of fun.
I would recommend the place to any one who wants to visit Gaberone.
Very pleasant indeed.

Do the rooms have air conditioning? Also how much is the penthouse suite
Answer from Well_Travelled_TO
Toronto, Canada179 contributions234 helpful votes
There are only two floors. The so-called penthouse would just be something on the second floor. There are heating/cooling units in each room. In July, when I checked in, the unit in my assigned room blew nothing but cold air and it took quite a while before I was eventually moved to a room with heating. Also, the heater in the 'breakfast' room/patio was broken so I sat shivering and no one advised me that I could sit anywhere warmer.
