Stayed at the Mahogany Lodge for 4 days and it was fabulous. The staff were so helpful and happy to help in any way possible. A group of us stayed there between 2-6 days and we all arrived with bikes, which they helpfully stored away. The pool was great and when we had a

We had Calamari which was unbelievably delicious, simply the best I’ve tasted. We then followed it up with seafood noodles which was amazing and finished off with Barbequed Lobster. All washed down with some cold cider in a beautiful garden soaked in the warm African sunshine.

Good points: Not on the beaten track, but close enough to get anywhere reasonable quickly. Mahogany Lodge has a decent dining room, decent rooms with AC and a swimming pool & bar. I have stayed at the Golden Tulip and the rooms are almost as good, the staff are friendlier and it's a heck of a lot cheaper. Okay, it hasn't the facilities of a big hotel, but then that's not a bad thing if you're there for a while. Staff friendly and available. Close enough to the airport, and yet far enough away to avoid plane & traffic noise. Bad points: Accra rush hour traffic is three hours at each end of the day and a nightmare. (not hotel specific) If you want nightlife and stuff, there isn't any. (A plus in my book, but there you go) Reception is limited. We tried to exchange £s for Cedis, and they simply didn't have any Cedis. Their exchange rate wasn't that brilliant in any case, so we did better at the airport.

The Mahogany Lodge, like all places in Ghana, uses 240V electrical current with a Ghanaian (or UK) style wall socket. If your device has a North American style plug, then you should bring an adapter so your 110V plug will physically connect to the Ghanaian (UK) style socket. Check your laptop charger to see if it accepts both 110V and 240V current. If not then you need a voltage converter to reduce 240V down to 110V.

What are the rates in cedis
They don't indicate rates in Cedis and don't let you pay in local currency - or, if so, the take the USD and multiply with the exchange rate...
