Visited on business in June 2013. Stayed for 3 nights. A Maputo institution, this hotel is excellent. Well located in the city, close to all the interesting places. The hotel has a good spa, a lovely swimming pool and fantastic ocean views. The hotel is ageing, however, and needs some renovation. Friendly staff and good restaurant. All in all, quite...

Latest refurb and new spa have improved the hotel but service is still a problem and food is mediocre and expensive. Definitely in a higher class than most hotels in the country. The main pool and surroundings has charm and restaurant and bar with view over Maputo bay is peaceful place to watch the sunrise...

After a night at the Pestana Rovuma hotel and Pestana lodge at Inhaka Island this hotel felt so luxurious! The pool area is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We had dinner at the casual restaurant, the food was a bit expensive, but tasty and we even got to enjoy some live music. We had a room...

An old style hotel by the sea. Great location, close to city and airport. It's a good place for business and/or leisure. The breakfast is excellent. The place is kept very well and clean. Bedrooms are spacious with good sized bathrooms with bath. Air conditioning works well. The jumbo prawns are definitely jumbo and are excellent. Staff are typically Mozambiquan.......very...

In 1976, after a long journey from London via Lisbon, the Polana Hotel was a welcome sight. The beautiful main buildings and fantastic cliff wing - where we stayed - were a great combination of old and new. No doubt things have changed a bit since and I sincerely hope that they no longer serve tinned frankfurters with every meal...

The Polana continues to be an amazing get away. From the health spa and gym to the food service to the weekly movies "Under the Stars" it rarely, if ever, disappoints. The wide variety of food and beverage options and the social programming- movies, music, family activities- seem to really have really taken a step up over the past year...

On other trips to Maputo I have been to the Polana for meetings and was always very impressed by the public areas. This time I tried it out and was still impressed by the public areas but was disappointed with the service and the room. The room was an odd long narrow room. The air conditioning was well below standard....
