Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Freetown was noisy, dusty and chaotic. LAC’s Villa is exactly what it claims. A garden retreat from the heat and the dust. All the staff treated us like family members and did everything they could to help us. We’ll definitely stay here next time we’re in Freetown.

My stay at Lacs villa was amazing . With a much needed vacation, and a reintroduction to the region , I chose Lacs villa. It is an amazing sanctuary . This host is amazing and communicative and does everything to make your stay a memorable one. The staff is great and attentive . The villa is clean and organized. The scenic landscape makes you one with nature. The birds chirping and greenery was what I needed to detach from a hustle and bustle scene that I’m much used to. Thank you Team Lacs for making it an amazing stay.

Good location, safe and very friendly staff. The internet is good despite occasional power cuts, they have a generator which kicks in quickly. Air-con in the room worked well. Rooms cleaned daily. Good food, especially the African dishes, would recommend the African buffet they run on Fridays! Many thanks to all the staff.

The hotel is situated near the special court between downtown Freetown and the western area. A little difficult to get to by public transport so ask directions via internet or phone - they have a website. Rooms are very big with nice bathrooms. There is a lounge area downstairs and a good restaurant. Loved the green surroundings and trees. Like family kingdom, they provide houses on the premises for long term rental.

I stayed here for a week for a biomass cookstove meeting hosted on the premises, this is a most wonderful hotel with excellent food and service, very nice clean rooms and very friendly staff. The gardens have some of the most beautiful trees to behold and the canopies are filled with birds.

The back up generator worked perfectly and the facilities for the workshop were perfect. (projector, tables etc).

Stay an extra day if you are planing on going to Freetown and ask the to organize a trip to river no. 2 or station hill to see the view.

If you are in Freetown and looking to stay for more than a week, then head to Lacs Villa. Centrally located with easy access to all the parts of the city, but still far from all the noise and crowd. The guest house is in a large green area with tall trees giving the feel of living in a forest.

The place has two buildings, I stayed in the old one, which though have very old furniture and equipment, everything works just fine. In fact, I prefer it to the new building, as the rooms are a lot more spacious with a vintage feeling. Moreover, the breakfast is served in the old building and during the rains (which is almost six months in a year), it becomes a challenge to travel back and forth.

The service is excellent and all the people working here, though not professionally trained, always try to do their best. The place never runs out of water, not there is any blackout (thanks to the power backup they have), hot water is always available and the wifi works most of the time. All this at a decent price range is what makes this such an attractive long-stay option in Freetown. Moreover, it gives you a homely feeling and you will not feel claustrophobic, which you tend to do staying in typical business hotels for a long duration.

The food does not have many choices, but all the preparations are uniformly good and with large portions. The restaurant offers excellent views of the valley and waterfall. The Friday African Buffet is a must try.

Highly recommended.

I stayed here for three weeks during the Ebola outbreak in December. Not only was the place extremely clean, but the staff were sweet and dedicated. I had hot water, wifi, and A/C in my room. The food was great, which was necessary since Freetown was in a "state of emergency" and all the cafes and stores close after 6pm and all day Sunday. An example of their kindness: On my birthday, the staff surprised me with a huge breakfast in the morning and a birthday cake at night.

I stayed at this guest house for the second time. I had wifi 24 hours and although black-out was frequent in the evenings, back up power generator was immediately switched on. Luckily you can be guaranteed of hot water as I had problems with these basics on a weekend in one of the resorts in Kent. Really lovely tranquil environment with beautiful tall trees not for from the city; you need to experience it in person. Room I stayed for three weeks was exceptionally large and the large bed just set you in perfectly after a long day. Very friendly staff willing to help with anything. I will be travelling to Freetown again this year and without any reservation I will be staying at Lacs.

A pretty average stay in Freetown for a high price, and yes, the wi-fi for the most part was strong and consistent, and when it wasn't, the front desk was somewhat responsive to helping me get it fixed. Rooms had generators so power was never off more than a few minutes at a time, but some parts of it (carpet) could use some TLC. AC leaked all over the floor. Food was not great-- stale bread and while some of the staff was very kind, others didn't seem to want to be there or attend to business needs. You MUST bring cash as well!

Nice house in a green compound, with a good balcony and restaurant area. Rooms a bit small and oddly shaped; they could have been cleaner and were a bit worn out. Location is a bit awkward but LACs is good value for Freetown.

Don't order an omelette at breakfast or you will be charged $10 extra.

Long complicated bills had to be written for each and every payment; these could take the staff up to an hour to write out. Settle up the night before if you have meetings or flights to get to!
