The Country Lodge is a great place to stay in Freetown because of its location, cleanliness, swimming pools and an excellent restaurant with a good variety of foods. The greatest added value of the Country Lodge is the staff: everyone was always very kind with us and with our children, to ask us if everything was ok and to answer any requests we had. In particular, my thanks go to the restaurant staff and to Mrs. Fatimata from Reception, who were professional, friendly and efficient. We will be back very soon!

I booked a room for six days and they neglected to tell me that one of those days the whole compound would be taken over by an event. I couldn't use the restaurant or the pool or any of the facilities. Furthermore, I got conflicting answers about what I should do to get food. The phone in the room doesn't work, so I have to walk down to the front desk any time I have a question, and even then, I get incorrect answers. Although they say they accept credit cards, when I checked in the person at the desk said the machine wasn't working. They show a restaurant in their online pictures, but the restaurant is under construction.
On the positive side, there is a nice view of Freetown, there is light and running water.
Considering how much I am paying per night, I expected more.

The Good: Very nice and comfy. beautiful place to stay. Breathtaking scenic views from the restaurant and pool. Excellent staff: a special mention to Mr Abou and Mr. Ibrahim of housekeeping.
The Bad: Bathroom plumbing is wanting in room 1604.. No hot water in the shower or bath tub. However,an instant shower was available at the bath tub that had water draining/dripping into the bathroom floor. Rooms a little Mouldy and funky. They do not replenish water(just 2 bottles for your entire stay) or soap/body wash.
The Ugly: The food and beverage manager Mr Mahmood lacked professionalism. Came off as a bully and Borderline racist…and was evident in the demeanor of the staff. Made a big fuss about having a bottle of water from outside. He was rude,condescending and arrogant. He quoted international standard which they didn’t maintain eg breakfast food once finished by other guests… they do not add more food again…woe unto you if you arrive 10minutes late … no Bacon for you

I have stayed at the Country Lodge several times during visits to Freetown. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and flexible. Amazingly, they remember previous guests by name - even the breakfast cook. It was great having evening meals on the patio overlooking the city to the ocean - delightful temperature and breeze that would have been missing down the hill. Thankfully, progress has been made on the road to reach the hotel so it is not quite as bumpy and hopefully progress on that front will continue. Internet was fast and good - very few outages while I was there. But the winning factor of the hotel is the staff and their hospitality. Well worth being a bit out of the city centre for that privilege.

Nice place to be with very friendly and cordial people to serve you . With good rates to offer, you can talk to the receptionist and you maybe able to get a good discount . Great place to enjoy in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱. The place has a nice view of the Lumley town seeing over the beach and Atlantic Ocean . Have most amenities to enjoy your stay ie swimming pool , gym , bar , restaurant services , in room fridge with stocked drinks if you don’t want to exit your room , etc . And then you get to see the driveway to the Presidential lodge …. With military presence .

I visited with a large group for a week. Our stay was personalized and customized to our needs. The staff was diligent about assuring everything was perfect. We were well fed at all hours of the day and night. The rooms were spotless. The pool was crystal clear. The view I cannot begin to describe. You have to see it to believe it. An extra thank you to Olivia. She went the extra mile to assist with some airline luggage issues.

The country lodge is by far the most gorgeous hotel I have ever stayed in. Situated at the top of Freetown it gives you the most beautiful view of the entire city. Unlike other hotels that have generator problems, country lodge is lit up the entire time and I had AC my whole stay. The staff were extremely kind and courteous, each of the managers all took time to speak to me personally and get to know me. The rooms were immaculate, I found out they recently remodelled the rooms so they are now so modern and lovely. We had the nicest man called Mohammed who not only kept the room so tidy but was also so lovely to me my entire stay.
What’s good about the hotel too is that usually when hotels are very nice their food or cocktail services fall behind but it didn’t at the country lodge. All drinks were made perfectly, they have an exquisite authentic sushi maker which took me by surprise and the local food was also really good.
If you’re wondering where to stay in Freetown, don’t even bother researching anywhere else. Just go straight to country lodge.

I spent 10 days at the wonderful hotel while on a Mission project in Freetown. The guest service team were wonder each day ensuring our needs were met. The location is beautiful morning prayer, lunch, and dinner over looking the coast was simply awesome. The food was appetizing and the leadrrship was very professional. We both loved this hotel. If we could give it six stars we would. The rooms are spacious and clean and have satellite TV. The restaurant menu is varied and delicious and my wife and I loved the traditional Lebanese dishes. We stayed twice over the last two months and loved watching the world cup final on the big screen. But the main reason we would go back is how friendly and accommodating every member of staff was. From the waiters who genuinely took an interest in our toddler son to the front desk who arranged an emergency taxi from the ferry port. I would not stay anywhere else in Freetown - perfect. We decided to head up and stay after speaking to Olivia, one of the Managers, at the Sushi Night they have. Glad we did. Soo relaxing with great views! Check in was quick and easy. The room was huge, modern and clean, with the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time. The restaurant was brilliant with a really varied menu. Victor, the manager came to say hi and check everything was ok, which gave me a chance to praise the Roast Barracuda (try it) Top notch cocktails too. The Old Fashioned did the trick! Great place with great staff, I think this might become a regular thing :)

It is possible to withdraw cash from ATM's around Freetown but there is no ATM within the Hotel premises.
We accept only local currency therefore we advise you do a foreign exchange transaction upon arrival at the airport or any foreign exchange bureau once arrived in Freetown.
