Please stay anywhere but here unless the location is what you need. The location is great for Kisimenti / Acacia Mall. The whole place needed an upgrade in January 2019 and I realise this may have been done between my stay and my review (12 months later). Communication was extremely poor to the extent that when we arrived we didn’t even know if our reservation was confirmed! The staff moved us to another room and when I looked it up online the other room was actually cheaper than the room we had paid for - I had to ask for some money back and the staff were not at all happy to give it to me. We looked at Airbnb options in the area and to be honest we should have stayed in one - they were cheaper and almost certainly better.
Beat food I’ve had on the island. Every meal I’ve tried has been amazing. My favourite has to be the spaghetti for sure, so much favour. Best service, wonderful staff. Would recommend and come again !
Fat Cat is a nice place to stay both for long term and short term stays. Clean place with nice staff and good breakfast options. It’s very central and easy to get around in Kampala from the hostel. The manager is a friendly and outgoing dude who is happy to give advice on places to see in Kampala and other places around the country. Oh and the showers are nice with hot water in the evening!
This hostel was more than I was hoping for, when arriving in Uganda! As other reviews have pointed out the location, the quality of the rooms and the breakfast are amazing, so it's not really important to point that out even more. BUT: This place has its own atmosphere, which is mostly thanks to the manager and his caring staff: They share their experience with you, literally about any questions you might have (not only about Uganda, but also travelling all over East Africa) and who socialise with all guests. All the recycling art they're creating is another big bonus of this place- give Uganda monopoly or the recycling chess-board a try! In summary: you feel at home from the moment you enter this place until you (sadly) have to leave again at the end of your journey!
It's a very relaxed hostel with a great roof terrace and other nice little spots to chill out. Rooms and facilities are all clean and staff is friedly. Also a bunch of nice restaurants and cafes are close. In this hostel a lot of interesting people are hanging around (a lot of peace corp volunteers, the hostel manager him self) who have very interesting stories to tell. I had great conversations there. Would love to go there again one day! Best wishes, Laura
