Very friendly and polite.
I've been going to Nepal for about 10 years, but this is the only hotel I've stayed at in Kathmandu. They provide excellent service even when you come as a group. If you ask, they will prepare a BBQ for you on the rooftop. If you use too much hot water, it will run out, but if you use it in moderation it's not that much of a problem. The staff are friendly and always happy to talk to you.
The rooms and lobby are well cleaned and I never felt they were dirty.
You may want to bring an extension cord and hair dryer with you.

I have stayed at the Backyard Hotel in Thamel many times in the past. It really is like being with family because of the friendlyness of staff. Being in Thamel it is an easy walk to many of the places to visit, including Garden of Dreams, to chill out. I will continue using this hotel as my base whenever I visit Kathmandu.

I stayed here, and let me just start by saying the host Rajendra jee is the most humble and friendly host/owner/friend/bhai. An amazing person with even better guide he kept in touch and had helped us in arranging cab and the best part is the staff here. Humble and service with a smile I have seen that here in Nepal.
Nepal is an awesom place and it became even more memorable when the host Mr. Ragendra Shreshta.
What more to say clean rooms great host and great staff.
Thanks again Mr Ragendra jee. I wil come back here with my family.

For context: My friends and I have been there a couple of times and faced this issue a lot but we still chose to go there as the prices were reasonable while you're out clubbing all night. We usually make reservations via phone and they always say they have booked the rooms but when we show up there, they say the previous guests have extended their stay and the agreed-upon room is unavailable. They then say there are only expensive rooms available (which are awful and not worth the money) and we have no choice but to settle.
The last time we went there the same thing happened and we had agreed upon a room on an agreed-upon price but they gave the same reason and gave us a room which was on the 6th floor and the rooms were below average for that price. We asked for the agreed-upon price for the room and then the staff said to talk to the owner so we agreed upon the room and decided to talk to the owner when we checked out the next day as we were getting late for our event. The next morning, when we tried talking to the owner he had the nastiest attitude and told us we were lying about the agreed price over the phone. Saying he never said anything about the price over the phone and was trying to intimidate us that he would check the CCTV cameras. We of course had no problem with that and gave him the exact date and time we spoke on the phone and then he backed off after admitting his mistake.
The owner seems quite dumb and doesn't even know how to manage a hotel. My main question to them was why did they take reservations if they had no rooms available. Ofc they gave the same answer saying the guests overstayed.
I am never going to this hotel again and I would suggest not to make reservations online or over the phone.

We were planning for the holidays in Nepal and searching for some good and reasonable hotels in Kathmandu online. There we came across Backyard hotel over there. Their what's app number is also available on website of their hotel. It was so convenient to book hotel prior to our trip on call. There is no advance payment system so we paid when we reached there. Overall hotel and Room was really nice, cleaned and well organized with good facilities. Top of that, the owner and rest of the staff were extremely cooperative and helpful. They also helped us in planning and providing itinerary for Chitwan 2 days trip. We highly recommend this hotel if you want best holidays in Kathmandu!

My 1st time being in Nepal and staying here.I can give 5 star for all of their services. Feeling like at home. Room was clean, breakfast was superb. All the staff including the Owner also soo kind and helpfull.I enjoyed stay here because the location was in the centre of the thamel town. Easier to go out and back in the hotel because of the location. They are one of the selected hotel for tourists visit Nepal 2020.

This will be my evergreen stay whenever i will come to kathmandu. Great hospitality and great staff. Thamel is one of the attraction of kathmandu and backyard hotel is right at the exact required place. You can easily get access to anything right at your gates. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner was very yummy and at reasonable prices. You can get neat and clean rooms according to your requirement. Owner Raj ji was very helpful in all sorts including the staff Vijay and Sameer. No wonder why my colleagues were coming here from past 6 years. And yes, it is situated at very safe place.
