We recently stayed at this cozy hotel in Kathmandu and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean and comfortable, providing a cozy retreat after exploring the city or the surrounding mountains. What I loved most was the delightful inner jungle garden, which replaced the city noise with a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommend this hotel for a tranquil stay in Kathmandu!

Best hotel in Thamel, the place is amazing, the bed, the pillows, bath tube and the personal of the hotel. Everyone is so kind and make you feel at home, always here to help you with a big smile. I’m gonna miss this place and I’ll be back next time I’m in Katmandu! No doubt about it!! (Location is perfect in the center of Thamel, walking distance from everything)

We arrived at Thrive (via airport transfer) after a really traumatic journey to get to Nepal, and it was a really quiet and relaxing place to be on first arriving in Kathmandu. Really close to Thamel, but set back from the road, with a beautiful quiet courtyard garden and a nice on-site restaurant, good air con and a very comfortable mattress. We slept really well and enjoyed our breakfast buffet the next morning. The staff were very helpful and arranged a taxi for us back to the airport the following day so we didn't have to think too hard about anything. We would have scored the hotel 5 stars based on our first visit but we stayed there again at the very end of our holiday two weeks later and had a very different experience on our second visit (which Trip Advisor doesn’t let me write a separate review for). We were staying for our wedding anniversary and had booked the heritage junior suite. We were asked to pay for the room on arrival this time, which was a pain as we planned to eat at the hotel again and didn’t want to have to pay two lots of card charges. But we paid in full for the room we had booked. We were shown to our room and it looked very different to the photos, a little disappointing but I just assumed they had different suites in different styles so I left it. We then went to eat at the restaurant and both ordered fish, which when it arrived didn’t seem to be fully cooked. We sent it back and asked for more cooking, and exactly the same plates arrived back at the table a few minutes later, with the same pieces of fish, seeming no hotter or more cooked. I assumed it must just be the type of fish so I ate it. When back at our room I checked our online booking and realised we had been given a cheaper suite (but charged for the more expensive one) so I went to reception to complain and they said they would look into it. We were then phoned at nearly midnight to tell us we could move to the suite we should have been in, but by then we couldn’t face repacking our bags and moving so we decided we might as well stay put. I got terrible stomach cramps in the small hours of the morning and spent most of the night on the toilet (though my husband was fine so it is possible it wasn’t the fish). When we came to check out, we were refunded the difference between the room we had and the room we had booked, but we were not offered even a drink or anything on top for the disappointment of having our wedding anniversary slightly spoiled by the mix up. The staff were still friendly and helpful, but It felt like a somewhat different hotel to the one we had stayed at two weeks before.

I recently stayed at Hotel Thrive, A Tropical Courtyard during my visit to Kathmandu. While the hotel boasts a picturesque garden and fabulous, well-appointed rooms with great amenities, my experience was marred by a disappointing and unwelcoming attitude from the front desk staff.

Despite booking in advance and confirming my reservation in Nepali, I felt underestimated and undervalued as a guest. The front desk staff's negative vibe and their preference for welcoming foreigners over locals made me uncomfortable throughout my stay. It's disheartening to see such a beautiful hotel tarnished by such behavior.

While the ambiance and breakfast were pleasant, the unprofessional attitude at the front desk overshadowed the positive aspects. I believe every guest, regardless of their nationality or background, should be treated with respect and warmth.

The hotel staff was kind, the hotel is placed in a calm area and with great conditions.
As was my 1st time in Nepal, I requested in the hotel to organize a tour with guide and driver. Was the best way to know about Kathmandu, Nepal culture and everything went well.

Thrive is an amazing escape , just a couple minutes walk from the chaos of Thamel. Clean, spacious rooms, amazing showers, friendly staff, great breakfast and very reasonably priced. We absolutely loved coming back to Thrive and hanging out in the garden oasis. You will not be disappointed!

An excellent oasis of calm on the edge of Thamel. Contemporary hotel, good sized rooms with super comfy bed. Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast and a good mix on the a la carte if dining at the hotel. Convenient location just 5 mins walk into Thamel for shopping & restaurants.
