Very calm placw in the town. The hotel is built in a pagoda stile Rooms are very clean, restaurant and garden so beautiful! Hightlighs are the top of the roofs and specialy the theatre , lead by the actress Sabine Lehmann Please visit also the farmhouse in Nargakot with the beautiful moutain vieux.
In 1980 my family were lucky to find the Hotel Vajra and treasured our stay. I returned November 2019, and am delighted the hotel still prospers amid its oasis garden, and that the precious theater continues to promote culture in Kathmandu. I love the authentic decor of the rooms--real Tibetan rugs on the floor and a Vajrayana Buddhist color palate. Recommend the vegetarian thali and lemon soda from the kitchen.
This hotel just off the main road is an oasis of nice gardens for having food. Food not bad. Loads of interesting books and crannies. Staff speak good English and are helpful. Dearer than other hotels but worth it for the quiet. Pillows were old and smelly.
This was our first hotel expierence in Nepal, the arrival was amazin, the room was large and clean and had a comfortable bed. the windows where open to fresh air but covered with mosquito screen. A Fan was also placed inside the room. We had our dinner there, nice cosy restaurant with very helpfull service. Also the food was nice. The breakfast was OK. Simple for a complete meal. Walkin distance from Thamel and Monkey temple.
if you like to stay in a very special hotel, you should choose the Vajra. Some minutes away of the crazy tourist quarter Thamel is this such a beautiful und silent place you never expect in the noise Kathmandu. The rooms are very large, calme and clean. The architecture is very different of mostly all concrit hotels in Kathmandu. I stay there since 20 years quite yearly and I would never change it.
