Yep, separate hotels. Know nothing about the aria, but royal penguin is great. Splash out on the top room if you can afford it. Easy access to the roof garden and big jacuzzi in the room.

Pick up a European adaptor. Power times were limited when I was there. I would suggest bringing an exterior battery to have a bit of extra charge. If you're in a bind and ask nicely you may be able to ask the desk to charge for you during non power hours. Safe travels.

Excellent weather in October. You can contact the hotel directly to arrange your transportation to Durbar square, but you can also take a taxi to the hotel from the airport. Just be sure you have the address writtten down.
