A friendly family, great location, clean accommodations, and good prices make Mandap a good choice if you're looking for a Hotel (rather than a more basic Guest House) in the upper Lakeside (Kahare Chowk) area. Mandap is located only a two-minute walk from Phewa Lake, and at a small intersection teeming with restaurants, bars, general stores, coffee shops, and vendors...

A 30 minute walk from the tourist bus station but a 2 minute walk to the lake and the restaurants of the lakeside area. Attentive staff, tasty breakfast and a comfortable, spacious triple room all for $15. Some power cuts (this us Nepal after all) but a backup circuit made sure there were always lights. WiFi speed average but strong...

You will get this between NPR 1200 and 1500. I believe you can negotiate.. We paid Npr 1500 because the room was facing the road and gate . Poor wifi No electricity. They will only switch on the generator when they feel like.. well to me it felt like they were saving up the kerosene. Remote control of TV being...

I stayed at Hotel Mandap for 3 days, twice eating there at lunch times as the food was simple but so good and so cheap! They have solar heating of water and some solar electricity (so there are always light even when the city loses its power) and the people are lovely and friendly. And it is a very short...

We stayed at Mandap for a total of 9 nights and enjoyed every minute. Very friendly staff, everybody greeting you in the morning. Had my coffee on the 1st floor balcony every morning and watched the streets come alive. Excellent room service. Excellent location in the heart of Thamel. Sam's Bar opposite the road a bit noisy, but earplugs from...

When we ordered the bill in the restaurant, the waiter came with 10 papers and the calculator and he made some numbers and told us one amount, we were not convinced and we took the calculator and the prices of the menu and then our result was 1000 rs less than the amount he told us. When we requested to...

Strange that the Mandap is only listed under hotels since the restaurant - located in a prominent position on one of Thamel's main thoroughfares - is more popular. Reasonable food, adequate service... nothing particularly memorable about it. Three stars plus a half for the unusually good coffee.

I've stayed at Mandap 3 different times over the past few yearts. Invariably friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant with its open fire is just the place to have breakfast on a crisp winters day. Have stayed with family and longer times when volunteering. Courtyard protected from the road by a bakery..with 'real'coffee but try the masala chai instead...brilliant. Good...

Cheap place to stay in Thamel, that's about it. Bedspread was dirty, no hot water for the shower until I complained, lights went out periodically. No elevator. Breakfast was included and it was great.

Didn't stay at the hotel but have visited the restaurant a few times and not been disappointed with the food. Has a nice fireplace and cosy atmosphere inside and the menu is extensive - good vegetarian options. Plates are large... The veg moussaka was nice although maybe not really a moussaka and the spaghetti was a little overcooked but had...
