My family (3 person) stayed at 3rd floor in triple bedroom for 4 nights. This hotel is a decent hotel near Taipei Main Station.
Room and bathroom were clean, equipped with soap, shampoo, razor, tootbrush with toothpaste, towel and hand towel.
They provided porridge and various delicious condiment for free breakfast. If you don't like to eat porridge, many convenient stores around the hotel can fulfill your needs.
We have a nice stay in Chair Man Hotel, unfortunately the free wifi connection was slow.
Nearest exit from MRT Taipei Main Station is Z10 (from Station Metro Mall). This hotel can be reach from MRT Ximen Station exit 5 and nearest exit to Hankou Street Sec.2 from Ximen Metro Mall is exit 6.

I stay there last weekend (5/3/2016 to 7/3/2016). It is just about ten minutes walk from Taipei train station, and only seven minutes from the airport bus station. I stayed in a room with double bed, the room was about eighty meters, not much facility inside. The overall impression to me was not clean enough, especially the towel and the quilt. But the price was cheap, if you are just looking for place to sleep, you can consider. There is many local food shops around, some famous shops in beef noodles is within walking distant.
It provides breakfast buffet from 7:00 to 9:00 in the morning, although not much selection. If you want to buy some fruits from Taiwan, there is a small market next to the hotel, you can ask the front desk. The entrance of the market is next to the 7-eleven which is adjacent to the hotel.

The room was very small and the beds were very big. We were in the back so not a lot of light. The room was old, but clean. It had a monster air conditioner; a real plus for Taiwan in the summer. The people at the front desk were very friendly and extremely helpful. The area around the hotel is quieter than Ximending, but there is a pretty lively market if you go right out of the door and turn right into the little alley at the Yonghe Dojiang shop (a good place to have breakfast). The hotel also offers a Chinese style breakfast that is also pretty good. I recommend it.

I needed a place to stay for this year's Computex and learned about Chair Man Hotel from a vblogger in youtube. If you want a bang for buck, no frills accommodation, then this is for you. It's clean, cheap and convenient (only a 10 minute walk from Taipei Main Station and Ximending), they also serve a decent breakfast buffet of plain congee and chinese breakfast food with coffee.
Staff are friendly and nice, they also allow leaving of luggages in the lobby after checkout if your flight is still in the evening.

PROS:

cheap
clean
close to Taipei Main Station
close to Ximending

CONS

thin walls, you can easily hear what's outside the room

I think I like this hotel the most for its location. The Chair Man Hotel is pretty close to Taipei Main Station in walking distance. There's a 7-11 at the same row of shop lot to the hotel. Hence, it's pretty convenience for us to get things like water and junks. When we walked from the hotel to Taipei Main Station, there's a lot of food stalls to try! I like the one that got selling Chinese Pork Pie, taste really nice~ Walking from the hotel to Ximending area is also pretty close. This is an advantage for those who love shopping.

The only thing I dislike about is where our room has no window. Our room had been upgraded to two double bed room even though we had booked for triple. Breakfast is included, nice taste but the choice is limited to traditional Chinese meal only. The staffs are friendly and helpful all the time. They helped my unlimited questions with smile~ :D Our room has problem to link to any wifi connection in the hotel. Somehow, the speed of connection steps out from our room is excellent! Thus, we usually open the door and use the net sitting on the stairs! :P

We were a family of 4 adults in their "Family Room" for 4 nights.

The price was budget friendly, cheaper than finding 2 rooms for the 4 of us.
The room was an internal room (no windows) with 2 double beds. And only enough room to put a desk and TV against one wall, and just a narrow walkway around the bed.
The beds were hard, the lights were dim, but I got used to it by the next night. No problems with the bathroom or the sharing of it for the 4 of us.

The free breakfast was Chinese with porridge and lots of side dishes. It was very nice. But we also could have walked 2 blocks to get the Chinese fried donuts and soy milk.

The location could not be beat. It is right between two MRT stations and an easy 15 minute walk to either one. And then we are off roaming the city for the day.

VERY Good location, friendly people, good location, simple taiwanese breakfast in the morning. But make sure you don't miss it cos it's not on the main road. Very good 3 star hotel with a 5 star service and 4 star location.

Downside. Dodgy looking bedsheets and curtains, but bathroom and room itself is very clean.

It is near walkable to Ximending. And there are nearby malls (Shinkong Mitsukoshi and mall in Taipei main station) and lots of places to eat. Also near National Museum of History (a bit of a walk, but you can ride the metro)
