1. It's SE Asia, so unless you pay up, you won't know exactly what you're going to get until you get there. 😀 (and that's half the fun of the place). 2. Staff: Friendly, solid English for the day and night desk attendants. Very helpful when assessing appropriate taxi rates (train station to hotel, etc., and when to use a...

My friend and I traveled to Bangkok and found the hotel without a reservation. Fairly friendly staff, and price good considering cleanliness, quiet, and near Khao San road. We read the reviews after booking, the hotel must have made improvements, good curtains blocking out light, working air conditioning and fan, clean bathroom, and hot water. Our safety deposit box didn't...

Very, very, very average. Rooms smallish - not more than a bed really; a toilet. Staff seemed nice when i was nice. I never tried being mean or angry, so i don´t know if they would have been nice still then. No breakfast, which is just as well - all Thai hotels serve you two pale toasts, throw in some...

My room 's AC didn't work at all blowing out nothing but warm air so they moved me to another room where the AC reeked of strong moldy odor giving me an instant headache . Fearing getting sick, I decided to keep my old room using the fan instead in the middle of summer . I then discovered the TV's...

It did the trick, just a clean reasonable priced guesthouse, very nearby Ko San road. Efficient and friendly staff, you can ask for a "quiet" room, bed and bathroom both ok. Had some ants in the room, but that's not a big deal for me :)

So, this place is clean, quiet, central (for the Cow Son Road) and the bed is super comfortable, but that's about it as far as it goes for this hotel. To be honest now that we have checked into our next hotel you can see the vast difference between them. Essentially this place is overpriced but i guess that is...

We were looking for a place to stay that was inexpensive and was in a good location - which New Siam III were. But wish we stayed elsewhere. There are tons of places to stay in Bangkok that are cheap - so keep looking! Like some places in Thailand and elsewhere, the hotel required you to return the key when...

Hotel is rated good on TP but i really wonder wich kind of people did this. The hotel isn't 'super' in any kind as the name might suggest. It's rather old, filthy and to expensive for what you get. Except for one girl behind the counter, the staff isn't friendly at all and they don't speak english. WIFI is only...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.

“Be polite to the staff - they have to deal with lots of riff-raff foreigners, so if you show a degree of politeness they are more than happy to reciprocate. Laundry (and backpack) always done in 24 hours at the normal rate of THB40/kg. Towels, toilet paper etc whenever you wanted it. And that SMILE! One skight downside: paying for daily internet. That's a bit 1990s. But the speed is reasonable and it holds well. Will happily stay here again in the future!”
