This is one of the oldest hotels in Bangkok and it shows its age. Well located in the proximity of Patpong and the shopping district (close to Jim Thomson) but its owners/managers seem to have abandoned it to the ravages of time. The interior decoration is well past its prime and depressingly shabby, the bathrooms taps and shower dodgy, and... More

You get what you pay for. The rooms are clean , spacious but a bit outdated. The staff is friendly and forthcoming with advice. If you don't want to pay 700 baht for a hotel breakfast you can find close by in one of the side streets and cheep American breakfast option for 64 baht. This 24 hour restaurant is... More

Stayed at this hotel 6 times now. The hotel is getting a bit old but is kept in very good condition and very clean. The location next to Pat Pong is great with the night market across the road every night, under ground train around the corner and light rail 5 mins walk away. Many restaurants in the area to... Positives - great location near to markets and restaurants and sky train. Maybe not the best place to stay for young kids as right next to Patpong strip clubs! Negatives - old fashioned decor and bathroom could do with refurb (shower so low couldn't get under it) and sheets were a bit grubby. Biggest gripe was level of English spoken... More

We have used the Montien for stop-overs since 1997, we have travelled with family parties of up to 8 people and recommended it to several friends, The decline in customer service has been slowly getting worse over the last few visits, rooms smelling of smoke, the breakfast cut backs etc etc .We checked in Friday 21st for 1 night, went... Stayed at this hotel in September. The Lobby is impressive and the restaurants are really good. But Elevators were not working properly. Rooms also had a dated look. The pillow was big and thick. I had a pain in the neck in morning. The breakfast was good. The staff attentive, but without smile on face (Unlike Thais).

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
