Great price for what you get. Nice comfortable room. About a 20 minute walk from Koh San road or catch the boat to china town etc. We had a slight problem with our booking not being recognised so had to call booking.com so they could confirm it with the owner. However good location away from the noise!
Very quiet place in a good location in BKK. Room could be cleaner, but was not that bad. Staff very friendly. Nice seats outside the room to relax. Many local eating options around. We stayed here 11 nights for 750 thb a night, which is a good price for staying in BKK. Would go here again.
This hotel is exactly what you would expect for the price. If you want true budget accomodation this is it! Our double bed was two single beds pushed together with single sheets across the bed and a single bed blanket on top. Room cleaning was non existent and we had to ask to get our toilet bin emptied after 3 days. There are so many mosquitoes at dusk you will nearly get carried away even with repellant on. Having said all this, the location was excellent. There are local markets nearby and each night there are so many food stalls and restaurants selling quality local food at local prices. Staying here is all about mixing with the locals so don't expect 5 star restaurants, coffee shops and hotels! Steves is only 2 minutes walk from Thewet Pier where you can catch a ferry for a couple of bucks to take you anywhere along the river. We used the ferry's every day to see all of the attractions along the river. For a unique market experience, catch a ferry upstream to the last destination. Along the way you will experience real life on the river and the local market at the end is something you will never forget. I don't remember seeing one Caucasian person in the market at all but the locals were so friendly and wanting to please you. It took us a while to get them to understand that we wanted a cup of tea and a bowl of soup but they persevered as did we and we got what we wanted and only paid a pittance for the privilege.…
A list of pro's and con's should suffice; Pro: - Great location. Khaosan Road is a 15 minute walk down the road. And you can get on the public boat at Thewet pier, which is just 30 seconds away. Go by the orange line, and the fare is a mere 15 bath/person. Get off at many stops, Khaosan, Chinatown and many more. The nearest 7-11 is 5 minutes up the road. - The hostel is very cosy. It is nice to sit outside at night enjoying a cold beer. - The room is nicely equipped. Powerful AC and fan combo, and the bathroom has separate sink, shower and toilet. Not a shoilet like most other hostels. Con: - The room was not filthy, but it was not completely clean either. Could definitely use a deep cleaning. - We did have a drawer w/ lock for valuables, sadly the lock did not work. - Large double bed (at least we thought so). It is actually just two single beds pushed together, which normally is no problem. This time it was. The beds were an inch apart in height. - We only met one member of staff - she was reception and room keeping. She was incredibly nice, always trying to be helpful - nothing but smiles. Communication was very difficult. She only spoke a few words of English. - All rooms are ground level. And all doors have a gap by the floor. A real bug risk. Surprisingly, after two months in SE asia, this hostel had the least amount of bugs. All in all a nice place to stay. No major issues. …
The place is good value for money but don't expect too much. The room and bathroom are old and the cleaning is sub par. One window can only be closed by a shutter so don't expect any daylight when using the airco. That being said the airco words great, the shower works fine, Internet is reasonably fast and the staff is friendly. The Pier is next door(10m) really comes in handy when travelling about the city using the express boat.
