Very cheap guest house (£60 for 4 night double room) with a good base location. Basic room with en suite (bathroom walls more a screen than anything else, walls don't go to the ceiling etc so not very private), shower has no cubicle which wasn't a problem for us but it does mean that everything in the bathroom gets wet...

I last stayed here in 1986. Things have been repainted, the restaurant is full every night, You need to book for dinner. People have discovered what a gem this is for the price. Basic, clean, friendly great views, peaceful. What more do you want in the middle of a capital city. Quite a challenge to find but everybody in China...

The hotel itself was situated around 20/30 minutes away from the nightlife and 15/20 minutes from Sukhumvit. There are a few small Street stalls around the hotel for thai food. The hotel has a rooftop bar and restaurant which is expensive but worth it for the view and the food is quite nice. As for location, if you are looking...

I enjoyed my stay here. A little difficult to locate but once you establish it's not a problem and it's easy to jump on the ferry to go down river. I did have some gifts go missing from my bag so take care and lock up your stuff.

OK , I admit , you will struggle a bit to find this place. It is in a small alley and you cannot reach it directly by taxi BUT it is worth. First of all it is great to walk in the small alley of what was before the Bangkok Chinatown , second the rooftop restaurant has really a great...

It was OK. Good room, cleaning everyday (they clean so good that you have to be aware of your belongings as YOUR MONEY CAN DISAPPEAR), no lockers. Very dark neighbourhood although quiet zone to chill. The best thing that it has is the terrace with a nice view. Location is good. Very hard to find the hostel.

We spent one night here due to proximity to the Railway Station and the fact that it was in Chinatown. Booked an air-conditioned room after reading other reviews and felt the price was quite high for what we got. Nowhere online did we learn that the road ends before the hotel and you have to carry bags down a narrow...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
