From the helpful staff to the quintessential shanghai heritage decor, I could not recommend this hotel enough. Tasty and cold welcome drinks and towels, staff that were amazingly kind, helpful and knowledgable and only a ten minute walk from the train. The Chinese street food and atmosphere of Chinatown on your doorstep is not to be missed and we ate...

I really, really recommend staying in Chinatown. Bangkok is huge, and most neighborhoods don't feel like neighborhoods. The city is also not the best place to walk, but Chinatown feels like a neighborhood. It also has the best, highest quality street food in the city. It's also very convenient to the river taxi, to the metro, to the train station,...

If its frenetic and legitimate lodgings you're looking for look no further. This fantastic hotel in the heart of Chinatown embraces its locality and heritage to be a most authentic experience. From the open to the street bar downstairs with the Jazz lounge and reception to the decor and suite design we loved this hotel. It really feels like the...

I was really looking forward to this hotel, but it let me down. We had a suite, and we should have had a "butler". Disregard the pictures on the web site showing someone putting your clothing away. We never saw this person. Nobody asked us what we wanted in our minibar. The wifi was abysmal. The light from the internal...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in mid-December. The entrance to the hotel was very nicely done with a water wall and a fish pond. The waiting areas next to the elevators were large and comfortable. On the right, as you walk into the hotel, there is a small bar and restaurant with an indoor/outdoor...

We stayed 3 nights at the Shanghai Mansion in Chinatown, Bangkok. The hotel staff is very friendly and supportive and our room and bathroom was clean and beautiful. The furniture is in style of 30ties China and looks great! We did have kind of a window but with painted glass and we could not open it - but that was...

Shangai mansion is Expensive place but rather outdated. I did not like the reception management and the rooms: I had 412 and it is small , old and stinky. ( the room is a superior room, I cannot immagine the lower ones..) the breakfast is ok but very expensive, the staff speaks bad english and it id difficult to be...

Whilst not a swanky hotel, this one is excellent value. Comfortable, well appointed rooms, friendly staff and a Thai massage included in our room rate. And right in Chinatown for fun street vibes and food, close to the station for onward travel.

This is definitively a must if you are considering staying for a couple of nights in Bangkok chinatown. The hotel is amazingly decorated from the lobby to the bedroom and staff are always helpful. Close to the rush and picturesque street markets and the main budhist temples, Shanghai Mansion offers a great experience. This includes the massage too... It will...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
