I stayed in Sri Ayuttaya twice- this summer and 3 years ago. Despite the time passed the place remains exactly the same- calm, clean and very good value for money. I lived in a double air-conditioned room with a toilet, which isn't properly separated from the bedroom (small swinging door). A big plus is that it is really quiet during... More

This guesthouse and Tavee are very good for their price (with shared bathroom) but they are a little far from the center. Be careful, their buses are just a scam! They sold us a VIP for Koh Tao at 1100b. They picked up us at 5pm and they left us in a crappy guesthouse to wait for an hour!!! The... More

The guest house is in a quiet street near to a major thoroughfare. It is quiet, clean and comfortable. There is a restaurant in the lobby. A major road is 300 metres distant so you can catch a bus to Khao San Road easily; the Number 3 bus goes to Chatuchak weekend markets and also, in the other direction, to... More

The best guesthouse ever! Not far from the center but you really feel peace and quite. Rooms are clean and cosy. Even shared bathroom is okay. Useful tip - try to stay in the room with inside view otherwise you will be woken up by noisy taxi drivers around 5 a.m.

I wish to record how thankful I am to the owners of this Guest House, for their kindness and for visiting me when I was in hospital over Christmas, with what the hospital thought was a collapsed kidney. The Bangkok Mission Hospital is fully vegetarian, so that was a treat. I would recommend Sri-Ayuttaya to any traveler and they made... More

We stayed in a guest house just next to here and came here for 2 nights for dinner. The food was amazing value for money, around 100bt for a main (£2) and the same for beer. Great service even though the language barrier was pretty wide (as we know hardly any Thai, must remedy that!). Would highly recommend eating here... More

I have stayed here a few times because it is in a quiet area away from all the noise in Bangkok. The rooms are clean and well decorated and the prices are very reasonable. I had a fan room and it kept cool all day. Would stay here again.

This little family run Guesthouse (GH) is in a great little neighborhood where you can experience local living. You are also right next to a great morning food market and minutes from the water taxi pier. Over the years they have continued to improve this GH by enlarging the rooms, adding some a/c and en suite bathrooms. They keep the... More

Good location not too far from the main places, you must have to take a tuk tuk or a bus to go to the royal palace. The staff is ok, they don't really speak english, and they don't provided you any tips for the city. So you must find all the information by yourself. otherwise the Gh is clean, and... More

Staying in Dusit

Neighbourhood Profile
Dusit
When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.

“1. We took the Sky Train from the airport to the very end of the line. From there, we caught a Tuk Tuk for 100 THB to the guest house. It was relatively easy to get to, although being that it was morning rush hour when we arrived we struggled at first trying to find a taxi to stop for us. One Tuk Tuk driver wanted to charge us 300THB so know you can do better. 2. We arrived too early for check-in so we dropped off our stuff and caught the same Tuk Tuk to catch a river taxi. (Hint: If you do this, know there are public river taxis vs private companies. Of course the public river taxis are much cheaper. The guest house is closest to pier 15 I believe. This trip we simply rode the river taxi up as far as our 40 THB would take us then got off to eat, then hopped back on and rode it back. We didn't realize we were so close to the guest house until after we walked back, about 10 minutes.) 2. When arranging for a taxi, such as to the Victory Monument to catch a mini-bus to Ban Phe/ Koh Samet for example, ask the guest house staff to write down where you want to go in Thai. Otherwise, it was extremely difficult to get a taxi. We tried to explain to the taxi driver where we wanted to go using our best English (we are from the U.S. and don't speak hardly any Thai), but one taxi driver after another gave up trying to figure out where we wanted to go. They'd simply drive off. And, they won't wait for you to go inside and get it written out so have your instructions before hand. 4. This has been mentioned before, but always use a metered taxi or negotiate with Tuk Tuk driver before you get into the vehicle. 5. Don't forget to email again one week prior to your reservation, as this is a requirement for them holding a room for you. :--) Enjoy your stay!”
