Our family of four stayed here for several nights. The place fit the bill perfectly. Both kids got a top bunk. The location was amazing. Rooms were clean and functional. My only complaint was that the bed was rather hard. Bathrooms are the “all-in-one” variety; the wet/dry ones. Not an issue for us, but be aware.

Central guesthouse in Chiang Mai is the perfect place if you come to visit northern Thailand. The staff is adorable and will give you lots of advice. Our room was spacious, air-conditioned and very comfortable. There's a restaurant and a bar that look fantastic! If we come back to Chiang Mai, we will come back to this guesthouse! Thanks again Ben for everything!

I stayed here for a week until I was looking for serviced apartments in town to settle down and found Central Guesthouse the ultimate location in town for many reasons! Thapae Gate is where all everything is happening, there are plenty of coffee shops and food outlets nearby - however the guesthouse has it's own excellent restaurant on-site. They also have a lounge-bar area with pool tables where one can hang out with other fellow travellers at night. I paid some 700 Thai Baht (less than 20 EUR) what is a steal in the old city for a clean private room with hot shower and air-conditioning.

We stayed at the central guesthouse at the start of Febuary 2018. The hotel itself was great value for money and has a very professional feeling. The location was fantastic. Downstairs there is a restaurant with lovely food and behind there is a bar offering lots of different craft beers. Lastly the staff were very attentive. Would deffinitely stay again when visiting Chang mai.

Lovely place to stay, exceptionally comfy beds with good facilities. Right next to the gate and busy area but no road noise was heard in the room. All staff were really helpful and smiley with good English. Great price and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning downstairs before heading off. Thank you!

Enigmatic. That’s how I would describe this place. Impressed, confused, serenely content and infuriated; you’ll experience any or all of these emotions if you spend a few days at the Central Guesthouse. The location is absolutely spot on. It’s right by Tha Pae Gate and the canal and accessible to everything you need. No other lodging (5 star or otherwise) is better situated. And the narrow countertop / dining area out front is one of the best spots in town for a coffee or cold beer if you like to sit and watch the world go by. This guesthouse is part of an ensemble of three businesses, the other two being the busy restaurant alongside and the cool bar out back. It’s crucial to point out that of the three, the guest house is the lowest priority in terms of upkeep and detail. The rooms are very basic, the beds are hard and hot water is erratic (in fact there was no water at all on one of the evenings we were there). The staff seem to operate across the businesses with two western chaps running the show. One of them, Ugo, is very friendly and helpful, whilst his partner mainly just looks serious and stares at his laptop as guests go in and out. Bear in mind that the whole place goes into lockdown late at night and you’ll need to arrange an early check out in advance - there was nobody there when we tried at 6:45am and the emergency number on the door wasn’t answering. On the second floor is a nice little seating area lit up with lanterns at night. You can take your own drinks and food up there if you like. It’s also shaded from the late afternoon sun by the Top North Hotel just to the west. Fantastic spot, though I always had the place to myself when I was there. This guesthouse has so much potential, just a bit of TLC needed to make it perfect.

Central Guesthouse is a comfortable, quiet, friendly stay. I was here one night after landing in Thailand. The room was clean and quiet, shower hot, staff helpful, and morning musli delicious (not included in price of room). Central location very close to the market. Contrary to the listing, the guest house DOES NOT offer airport transportation, but it’s easy to get to with a 150 baht taxi. It is on a very busy street. Great if you’re into that kind of thing. When I return to Chiang Mai, I think I will opt for one of the inner streets for the extra peace and quite I’m seeking on this trip.

Really enjoyed our 3 nights here. Right in the middle of the action, quiet, got upgraded to a bigger room. It had a brand new bathroom.Walking distance to night bazaar, right in the middle of the weekly night market, surrounded by bar and restaurants to choose from, although the food in the Ugo restaurant downstairs was as good as we found in CM. The Khao Soi soup dish that comes from CM was amazing. Great value for money in general and very clean. A few Englishmovie channels on the tv in the room too . Will stay here next time im in vicinity. Recommended :-)

The hotel is located right at one of the most iconic place of Chiang Mai! The rooms are spacious and clean. The price is very affordable. One thing I don't like is that you will have to enter the hotel via its restaurant or through the backdoor via the Muaythai stadium. But overall is super!

It's not acceptable to not have hot water during a whole trip in this kind of guesthouse, even in february. Furthermore, and despite several cold showers, the team managers didn't apologize and/or accept a price reduction (a fair price). I would advise strongly against this place.

Sorry for late reply - we were busy with our potential and happy customers.. Glad that you won't coming back! For the upcoming guests and travellers: the water problem had been fixed the next day after this person had left. :) Regards, The "shameful" Team Managers
