This is not the nicest place you will stay but it is clean and really close to a lot of attractions. Also lots of good restaurants in the area and has a really nice vibe. You are right in the mix of the city but in a way it also feels quite peaceful. One negative about this place is the Ac. There is a cone but it has a hard job cooling the room especially mid day.

There can't be many better locations in the old town. Walking distance to some good restaurants and just off the main road.

The good thing about La-Mer is that it has access to all the facilities of "Eurana Boutique Hotel" next door (pool and wifi for example) but without the associate costs.

The pool regularly only had a couple of people around it but did only have 7 beds despite all the pics showing around a dozen. I suspect lack of maintenance and being left open to the elements has seen them all destroyed.

Wifi was decent most of the time but would kick you off all the time and you'd have to log in over and over again.

Rooms were not clean. Nor was the reception area. There is a coke fridge there and as I'm tall, I could quite easily see a layer of dust on top of it that I could write my name in it. So I did. My name lasted 10 days before someone noticed and it was cleaned. Was probably the first time in months.

Rooms were similarly dusty. A layer on everything. We stayed in 105 on our first night (two single beds) even though we booked a double. In the morning I went to ask to change rooms and was told that I hadn't booked a double bed and that the standard room ONLY had single beds in. I refused to accept and showed my booking stating that it was a double bed, they then said they'd "upgrade" to give us a double bed and we moved to 208. We stayed there for 11 nights. 208 was bright and quiet enough, although right by the stairs and on the last night it was noisy with people coming in from the bars at 3am. 105 felt like a dungeon tho. I can only assume that all rooms on the ground floor are like this, so insist on at least the 2nd floor.

When they clean the rooms, they wouldn't really clean away anything. Just change the sheets. I had an empty coke can by the bed for 10days and it was never moved once. They would also intermittently leave us a foot mat/towel for the shower and other days, nothing.

I'd stay again in a "better the devil you know" kind of eat and as the location was spot on, but if you are a clean freak, this place is not for you.

Dear Nathan, Thank you for staying here at Lamer Hostel, and we appreciate you taking time to share the details about your experience with TripAdvisor. We are sorry to read that there was some areas of your stay which were less than desirable, but again we are pleased to receive your feedback on the issues which will in turn be used constructively. Providing a clean room and facility is something that is essential to us here at Lamer Hostel, so we were concerned with some of the cleanliness issues which you raised. Our housekeeping team has been made aware, to ensure that high areas such as the fridge are completely cleaned. Rooms should be thoroughly cleaned daily, which does involve removing all rubbish items, therefore all of our cleaning team has been notified of this matter. We believe the confusion between rooms to be a miscommunication, and are pleased that you were moved to a room which you were more happy with. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. Kind Regards, Management

Great location within walking distance of fantastic restaurants, markets, temples, post office, massage spas, juice bars and cafes. Located on a quiet street La Mer welcomes you with a clean and organized front desk. The rooms are basic but comfortable, with great fan and a/c, drinking water provided and room is cleaned daily. Nice, clean linens and clean bathroom.

Where do I begin. I'm not one to hand out 1 star ratings unless absolutely deserved. We stayed at Lamer Hostel for a few nights. The staff were terrible. Made you feel like you were nothing but a nuisance. Rolling their eyes when you asked a question (or asked for milk for your coffee which they forgot to bring you). They stood around talking to each other in Thai, quite obviously about us, while we waited for them to acknowledge us so we could check in. The EFTPOS machine was not working at the time so they said we could pay later. Due to the early start we had we crashed early, only to be awoken by the guy from reception at 10pm (!!!) banging on our door relentlessly until I answered, demanding we come downstairs and pay. The breakfast was either 2 pieces of toast (not toast, warmed bread) or a pancake. literally, just a pancake... no butter or syrup or anything. The cleaning lady spends more time spying on the guests than she does cleaning rooms. We never once had our room made up, she knocked once when we were in there so we hurried up and left for the day, only to come back to the room exactly the same as when we left it. We used the pool at the hotel next door (same business) assuming it was included as that was what we were told at check in. A staff member came up to us demanding to know our names and room number, which we told him. He then proceeded to shout at us demanding we leave immediately as we had not paid the 100 baht fee to use the pool! While collecting our stuff to leave I noticed the cleaner lady leaning out of one of the windows shaking her head and waving her arms around! Honestly, this was the worst service we have ever had... anywhere! Very unusual for Thai hospitality, never been yelled at by any Thai staff before! The staff could not have made us feel more uncomfortable and unwanted if they tried! The only polite and friendly staff member was a young lady who had only been working there 2 weeks, I'd mention her name but no name badges. There are so many nice guest houses and hotels down Soi 6 or nearby (it is a really nice area with some fantastic restaurants and cafes). Don't waste your money here!

In a Soi with a number of authentic pizza restaurants, I made the mistake to eat at this place. All I received was a tiny processed pizza, straight out of the freezer and defrosted in a microwave.. My allegedly Hawaiian pizza had crab sticks on it and was barely recognizable as food. The mini pizzas in 7_11 taste better. The french fries were worse! So sorry to the other authentic pizza places surrounding this one ! At least I could drown it in tomato sauce to kill the taste, as obviously, they have never heard of Olive oil, basil, oregano or pepper corns. Avoid at all costs!!!!

I didn’t stay at the hostel, but I went to the restaurant to eat after a long day motorbiking to Doi Inthanon National Park and back.

The food was excellent and the waitress happy and pleasant. No issues at all, apart for the cockroaches running around the street nearby, but a flip-flop sorted them out - not the restaurants fault might I add.

I was the only one in the restaurant so it was nice and relaxing.

I recently booked this hotel through Expedia for 2 nights. This included breakfast for two days. The same deal was available on Booking. Long story short, the hotel refused to serve us breakfast even though I showed them my reservation. They just told me that I had only the room booked. I had to call Expedia and have them email and call the hotel to tell the hotel I did indeed have breakfast as part of my room. By this time breakfast time was over....We ended up loosing breakfast because the management refusal to serve us. The second day they just served it to us but did not apologize or even acknowledge the previous day incident. Ignoring a situation just makes it so much worse. A simple apology would have been enough. I just think giving a customer what they booked should be part of the management's response to a situation like this, not refusing us and embarrassing us for a mistake made by them. Not only did this leave a bad taste but it made us move hotels and not extend our stay for 4 more days. Some good customer service pays off much more than a pancake and a cup of instant coffee, hence this review. Too bad for this hotel as the room was big, comfy and clean. Wanted to thank the cleaning ladies for being super nice and friendly. I think they should maybe be promoted to management instead, they know how to treat others much better.

The worst hotel experience of my life. Absolutely horrendous. As soon as I walked in I saw the room was in a grim state. Nothing like the pictures. There were stains on the comforter sheets and the walls. The bathroom looked infectious, I didn't want to step foot inside. At 12 AM, I was about to go to sleep, and when I lifted the top sheet, MANY bedbugs scurried away. I was able to catch one in a ziplock bag to examine. Indeed, it was a bed bug. There was no one in the hotel available to help. So we left at 2 AM to find a new place to stay. As I left the hotel I saw huge roaches scurry away in the walkway. Another sign of poor maintenance. The next day, I stopped by to ask the hotel staff for a refund. They refused. The manager was in Bangkok and told me she would give me a refund if I didn't leave a bad review. The woman in the front desk was horrible and rude to us. She told me that she wouldn't give us our key deposit refund back because we had to come back and return the key during the scheduled check-out time (the next day). This made no sense, as I had the room key in my hand but she still refused to accept it out of spite. I told her we already left and she told me she wouldn't give me the refund still, until the day that I'm supposed to actually leave. So on top of refusing to refund our stay, they were also refusing to refund our key deposit even though we were trying to give them back the key. I called the tourist police and finally, after hours, she had to give me back the deposit but refused to refund me for the night's stay. She and the manager behaved horrendously and unethically. Thankfully, I booked through a third party site which gave me back a hotel credit in the end. Avoid this place at all costs. I have FULL voice recordings, photos, and videos of everything I've said if anyone needs proof of this monstrosity.

Dear Isabelle, We have fully investigated your comments and spoken to all members of staff involved. We have addressed the aforementioned complaint issues below: Upon thorough investigation of the room after the complaint was registered, our team found no sign of bedbugs or indications of insect harborage areas. In the case of an emergency during the night, guests are encouraged to contact our staff in the hotel next door (Eurana). We received no report of any problems with the room during the night which you stayed with us. The refund for the key deposit was given from the beginning, and not after you contacted the tourist police. We requested to see the footage captured of the bed bugs, however you declined to provide this. We would have provided a full refund if this was shown to our management. Lamer hostel adheres to a strict cleaning regime, which ensures all of our rooms and facilities are free from the insects mentioned within the review. Kind Regards, Lamer Hostel.

This was my third stay here and I was pleased with all three. It is located 2 minutes walk from a local market ( food, fruits, clothes etc)and the main perimeter road. The standard rooms are big, AC and fan, nice shower and a couple of good English movie channels on the TV. Penny at the reception is very helpful and friendly. Watch out for their special promotion of 3 nights for the price of 2, a really good deal.

I think the only good points is the price ( if you get the same promotion I had ) wich is pay 2 nights and the third one is free. So for the standard room it came to be like 600 baht/night. Wifi works good.

I read some reviews of this hotel and someone said it look like an old hospital... well this is complety the good words to describe it.

My shower was so dirty that we took the shower with sandals.

A tip for you guys, if they forget to tell you ( like they did with me ) that the reception is close at night, I mean you can't even enter the hotel cause all door is closed. They didn'T told me that I had to go behind the hotel and open a door with a chip card. Moment of panic here...

Ahhh and 65/kg for laundry.... just go outside and walk 1 minutes you gonna find some at 30/kg.

If you want to swim, to the next hotel (eurana) wich is the same owner.. you got to pay 100 baht/person.

Well, if you got the same promotion as I did.... it's just ok.... If you dosent got that promotion don'T go, I tell you you can find something a way better.

Hi Cho ock youn, Thanks for booking with us and taking time to post a question. Unfortunately we do not offer a taxi pick up service, however we recommend hiring a taxi from outside the airport on arrival to Chiang Mai. All taxi drivers should know of our hotel, however just in case, you may print out the location map found within our TripAdvisor page or on our website. Kind Regards, Management
