Pros: the elephant jungle sanctuary office is in the lobby, free bananas and tea, you get a small locker in room, it's clean, the second floor has a lot of comfy cushions and chargers to hang out and meet other travellers, wifi works well
My only real complaint about this hostel is that there aren't plug sockets/reading lights next to each bed, and the rooms are pretty dark so it's practically impossible to read at night. It's a basic hostel, sure. But for 100 baht a night you've got...More
This was a very basic hostel. Staff were not very attentive, but were helpful if you had a question. Hostel was not a very social place.
Large rooms, and beds, although pretty firm mattresses.
Handy Location near the night bazaar and the gate.
Mozzies, ants, cockroaches, geckos; you can expect to find and need to accept in SEA Hostels - but rats in the room you sleep is never acceptable (maybe some hardened backpackers disagree).

I had a brilliant time at Baan Khun Hostel. All staff were very friendly, funny and eager to help.. especially Paul who interacted well with everyone who stayed. The staff all clearly shared a big love for the elephants and the running of the sanctuary....More

My friends recently booked a tour to an elephant sanctuary and they can't remember what it was called. They were given jean shorts and a shirt to change into, they booked in through this hostel in January and I would like to know the name of it!

The tour you can book at Baan Khun is to Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. If you want to go to Elephant Nature Park (A really great sanctuary!), you can book a tour at their office on 1 Ratmakka Road.
