Although the Areca Lodge is a nice hotel, the standards are slipping while the price is rising.
The newly refurbished rooms are fairly nice but there is a lack of draw space to keep your clothes in. We had to leave some clothes in the suitcases and others on chairs.
We had fresh bedding and towels everyday but the maid didn’t do a very good job in general cleaning and didn’t always leave fresh toiletries and tea/coffee.
Both swimming pools are ok but there is a lack of sun beds. Towels are provided around the pool but some have seen better days and are a bit threadbare.
Breakfast was provided but is the same everyday and not always the best standard.
Breakfast is from 6-30 to 9-30 so if you like a lay in, you will miss it.

I stayed at the Areca in January this year and the hotel overall is just about value for money and in a good area. the breakfast are good and the staff are good. My room in the evergreen part of the hotel was very well cleaned but is very dated and needs brightening up and some renovating. The bathrooms have had their day and after a shower the floor is flooded. The main complaint is the WI FI its useless please dont book if you need to use the internet or your tv firestick. The other complaint is the new sunbeds they are the most uncomfortable things you will ever lie on there is no padding at all. To be honest they could have unscrewed the bedroom door and put that down at the poolside and it would have been more comfortable. I did notice that some people had brought their own padded mats to put on the beds obviously they had past experience of how uncomfortable they are but lets be honest you shouldnt have to do this. I would be happy to stay at the hotel in the future if they did some renovation to the evergreen rooms and sorted out the terrible WI FI and sunbeds.

Had a great 7 night stay in deluxe plus room with my wife.
It came with breakfast which was a set consisted of eggs, bacon, hotdogs, salad, toast, jam, tea&coffee, fruit juice water you can ask for more if required its no problem that’s for Monday to Friday with buffet breakfast at weekends.
The room itself was lovely big bed ,air conditioner, small table 2 chairs and another big chair & footrest ,big balcony with view of pool and 2 more chairs, & drying rack, big fridge safely deposit box, good size tv with plenty of English channels including films, bathroom very nice with walking shower. Which was cleaned with the room every day to very high standard
As for the staff they where so nice and professional always very polite and smiling & ready to help if needed.
We have stayed here many times over the years and can’t wait to return.hotel is is in a great place near to all the shopping & restaurants you could want beach about 10 min walk straight though mikes shopping mall at end of street for the people looking for night life great bars LK metro is less than 5 minutes away its a great time to get way with some great deals which Areca lodge is offering at moment you can’t go wrong hope this helped you a little bit and stay safe

To be completely honest its a while since I stayed here. However, I have some very fond memories of this place and I hope that if you stay, then you can create some good ones of your own too.

The location could not be better, close to almost everything in the city, plenty of baht buses, motor bike taxis or a short walk to the beach or many other bars and restaurants.

In terms of value for money I would say its pretty good. When I consider the cost of something similar in the UK, Premier Inn for example, You get much more for your money at Areca than you would at a Premier Inn.

This place is great for single, couples or families. I was single went I first stayed, also stayed as a couple. Had my wedding night there and stayed with our first child. So you can see, I have seen it from many different perspectives!

Stayed Dec had two executive rooms in Areca building, they have been renovated and look amazing, view over first pool. Quiet pool.
I really enjoy breakfast here, it’s relaxing & plenty of choice. Staff always topping coffee cup up.
Bar out front is great on an evening for people watching & watching world go by. Big comfy seats & table service.
Great location to everything, short walk to beach/malls/bars/markets.
Always enjoy our stay here it’s very familiar & staff are great.
I always sign up for Ace membership on their website which you pay for on arrival, much cheaper room rates & 15% off food & soft drinks too.

Arrived Areca Lodge early January 2022 for a six week holiday.Due to Covid pandemic I arrived on 1 night Test and Go package, bit stressful before travelling with lots of forms to complete, worries about positive test as heard some horror stories and then 2nd PCR test on 5th day which came back negative.Once this is all over you can begin to relax.

No problems on check in just show Thai Pass and reception efficient if not a little serious.I choose high balcony room overlooking pool which was perfect for me.Room is large with bath/shower,fridge,safe,free wifi and a pleasant view.

Large hotel with a number of blocks, two decent pools, gym and pleasant breakfast area.

Nearly all guests European mostly well behaved middle aged Brits like myself.Breakfast including which was a decent offering of eggs, bacon, cereal & tea/coffee and fruit but was the same every morning.

With lack of tourists due to Covid pandemic hotel prices are generally around 50% down plus there are no tourists from China,India or the usual big groups of Scandinavian families that dominate the pool so very pleasant most days around poolside with an excellent food menu.

Big thanks go out to room maids who were always smiling and friendly, pool side staff who were very pleasant & also breakfast staff who were well organised and pleasant.

Areca Lodge is located just off Second Road on Soi Diana steps away from LK Metro.Originally curfew was 9pm but has increased to 11pm at present which is fine for me as I’m generally sleeping by midnight and am awake for breakfast for a whole day to enjoy the winter sun.

Will I return again to Areca Lodge?Of course I will!!!

Have visited 3 weekends in a row to get a break form Bangkok. Excellent value for money, THB 890 per night for King Sized bed, Air Con, Fridge, Safe and Bath Tub.
Good location easy to find. Only one of the two pools open but under stand able due to the Covid situation.
Breakfast has been scaled back buffet on Sundays other days an American style breakfast bought to your table. Both very acceptable given the price.
I would recommend to anybody to take advantage of the discounted prices at the moment.

Watch out for the wobbly lamps on the bed end tables. Barely touch them and they fall over. 1600 Baht later. Then the desk manager demands room service payments like I am going to skip the bill. Great housekeeping and room service though. Great place centrally located. Stayed before and had no issues This time however not so based on..... One Desk Manager Can Make Or Break your business.

I stayed there in for 2 nights in August 2020. There was very few guests at that time. The staff were uncooperative.. I checked in at 10:00am (I stated online my early check in time while booking the Hotel) but the staff refused to give me the room rather they made me wait until 11:00am, & the room was vacant all the while I was waiting. The breakfast was very basic (prepared meal ready on the table).
Overall an unpleasant experience & will never visit again not for even for free.

My regular hotel in Pattaya

This time I stayed at the Evergreen building with a pool view.

The room was spacious and the bed was king-sized.

There was ice space in the fridge, so you could put ice from the day before in the fridge and use it the next day.

The shower had a little weak water pressure, but if you like that, there was a bathtub.

The toilet drainage was just about passable.

It might be a good idea for Japanese people to bring their own toilet paper. The quality of the paper here is rough.

There was a sofa and a table, so you could have a drink in the evening.

During the day, you could sunbathe and swim in the Blue Ocean pool. I recommend bringing your own goggles.

Towels were available for rent, and drinks and food could be ordered.

The location was close to Soi LK. You could easily get to WS by songthaew. The now very popular Tree Town was also within walking distance.
Foot massages cost around 150 THB for 1 hour.

The Family Mart on the Soi Diana side has disappeared, but there is a 7-Eleven right at the back entrance on the Evergreen building side, which is convenient.

There is also a motorbike taxi stationed right in front of the hotel.

The Corona building is currently being renovated.

There are massage parlors, restaurants, beer bars, and go-go clubs all within walking distance, so I recommend it.

The more modern building is the Areca one, Corona is the next one slightly older and Evergreen is the one furthest away, not been to that one so look for the building with a pool view would give you Areca if not stated, Corona is good but no view, give them a call they are helpful we have been 3 times this year already.

0630=1030. Buffet breakfast if the hotel is busy or a plated breakfast western or oriental if not busy, its a good breakfast.
