We have selected the Bendecir Hotel.based on reading plenty of reviews and looking at traveller photos. However , as soon as we areived the realisation that not all is as it seem online was clear. Reception stuff was lovely and helpful but when we arrived at our room we were not presently welcomed with very mouldy smell mault stains on the bathroom silling. This is not acceptable and we have requested to be moved. There however was only one other room available which was in a process of being renovated, strong smell of paint was too much to bare , so we have stayed in our room. Air conditioning unit was working but was so Lound that we found it hard to sleep. Also to be noted, the room we have been assigned was in a different building and offered no views! Upside was a wall of a different building and air conditioning units so that made a room dark and unpleasant, still we thought, it's a big room with 2 big beds, great for our family. It seem on the surface like it was tidy, apart from questionable stains on the sofa I have decided not to sit on at all! Sky bar was a hit for sure, with beautiful views and drinks. Stuff there was fabulous and very acomodationg hover breakfast was very different affair! It was arranged in a bizarre way next to a table where stuff cleaned the dishes? And sat or lied down. Kitchen was open and the smell was uninviting! When we arrived half of food was already gone not to be refilled and when I asked for fried eggs they came blackened and overdone. I have asked politely to pls change it but was met with angry looks so I just ate it. We haven't gone back for breakfast again and chose to eat outside. The location was excellent and that is a main sello point. However if you're coming with young family I'd definitely look elsewhere! After 1st night we cold see that the rooms were not properly cleaned. We have used all tye towels on the first night stopping the worn stuff floating from underneath the bath as it wasn't properly sealed so needed a fresh ones, but apart from that and making the bed room wasn't cleaned. I am not a pickly person and am very understanding but small bits like grabbing some rubbish from the table would be a bare minimum. We didn't like the smell of the room and the cocroaches appeared few times. Which wasn't adding to our already questionable stay at this hotel that on the surface and all online pictures look very different that in reality!

Perfect location to explore old town and the French quarter, literally all on your doorstep but in a quieter spot so you get a good nights sleep. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Ideal base to go explore Northern Vietnam. Would stay here next time!

Completely disappointed! Sharing this review about how I got scammed here, hoping it won't happen to others too. I arrived at the hotel and the receptionist tried to convince me they kept a room for me in a different building belonging to the same hotel, as this building gets quite noisy at night. He asked me to cancel my booking on booking.com saying he will give me 100k dong discount as they won't have to pay the booking.com fee. I was quite skeptical, but he kept saying it's exactly the same conditions, the room is even better. I went to the other building which turned out to be a completely different hotel, 3* instead of 4, no spa facilities and the room was with no windows and right next to the restaurant (which made it very noisy at 7am) - all this with a €2 discount. Absolutely horrendous service, the manager of this chain is an absolute liar!

Dear guest, I had checked your booking and we believed that you have not stay at our hotel. Since we are a well known hotel operating at the old quarter area in Hanoi with lots of good review from our customer came from many cultures. We believe that you or someone behind you are not -verified account. Or you had done this eview in unethical inorder to ruin our business. I would like to open a case via booking or do whatever i could to verify my thought and clear our name. Good day! David Chu - Customer Service Supervisor at Bendecir Hotel & Spa.

Hotel Bendecir is in a great location, it has great helpful and friendly staff, a good varied breakfast offering, and it’s very quiet—in a very noisy city. Overall it’s a great hotel that I would recommend to others wanting to be located in central Hanoi. The only reservation I have relates to one of the rooms we stayed in. (Our stayed in tow rooms, each for two nights with a trip to Ha Long Bay in the middle). The first room, on the 7th floor was exceptionally good, and if the second room was equivalent to that this review would be 5 stars. The second room, on the 8th floor, was disappointing. It had probably the worst designed bathroom we have ever seen in a hotel. The shower was right next to the toilet with not even a glass wall—it even a shower curtain—separating them. There was a curtain, but this only provided a barrier to the sink, not the toilet.

The Bendecir used to be our favorite hotel in Hanoi. No wonder we have been coming twice a year since before Covid. Not sure if there was a change in ownership or management but our recent stay was a complete disaster. After arriving into our room and unpacking our stuff, we found the room warm and stuffy. So, we tried to turn on the air-con, but only heat came out. I ended calling the reception and I was told since it’s the winter month the Aircon is set to “heat” only and I should open the window if I needed cooler air. I opened the window next to the busy street. it is so loud and the air pollution was bad and it was in the high 70’s. At this point I was ready to check out, but the lady agreed to turn on the Aircon since no one was using the heat. Things went down hill from there. The WiFi when it was working was so slow, I could not even view my Facebook messages. I mentioned this to the staff and they said it was string outside my door. So, at most times I had to sit in the hallway on the floor to do my work emails. After day 4, I mentioned it again and they said the hotel was fully booked and that’s why the reason why it is so slow. The next day we were ready to check out and get a refund because the breakfast room was overcrowded, dirty, the food trays were empty, the food on display was cold and dirty dishes piling up everywhere…. While the staff was occupying a guest table having breakfast. There was no clean silverware, no coffee cups or juice glasses…. The table placemats have not been cleaned in days and the carpet was disgusting from spilled food or drinks We tried different times of the morning to see if there was a change, but there was not much difference. We met and spoken to other guests and they expressed their disappointment with this hotel since they had dirty linen, clogged plumbing and bugs in their rooms. We didn’t experience any of that. Except I don’t think housekeeping ever mops the floor with soap and water. I had spilled some water by accident from my bottle and cleaned it up with a town and the towel was so filthy after. Otherwise I always wear my room slippers, so I was not concerned about that. Now we moved rooms to a higher floor and the WiFi was a bit stronger, when it works… I was told I should do my work in the breakfast room or roof top bar since the WiFi is strong there. That room is already overcrowded in the first place. After exploring northern Vietnam, we were suppose to return here, but we had canceled our booking and reserved a different hotel that is much quieter, cleaner and has reliable WiFi….. The reception staff is absolutely lovely and you can’t get mad at them. The breakfast staff will do anything to make you happy but it’s overcrowded in that small space and the carpet is so disgustingly dirty and sticky. I also don’t think the staff should use up valuable table space to have a breakfast break while guests are standing in the short hallway by the elevator to have their meal. Breakfast is over at 9:30, why not eat at that time with the rest of the stuff….? We also had another booking for October for 3 weeks at this hotel (yes, we really love and enjoy Hanoi) but we also canceled that and rebooked it with another hotel. We hope the owner of this hotel will take our review to heart and turn this place back to its original superior standards. Because for now, the prices went up but the quality went way down. So sad…..

It's recommended to stay in the Old Quarter area at Hanoi as it is convenient, safer and tourists friendly. Offers access to multiple options of restaurants, shopping and travel agencies to book for Ninh Binh and Halongbay. The hotels in Old quarters are small, boutique, and tucked in between shops or restaurants. The rooms are smaller and good for travellers who spend most of their time outside their hotel. Bendecir Hotel located on Lo Su street has a very small reception area manned by English speaking and very polite well trained staff. While selecting the rooms choose rooms that have a size above 36 sq mt ( Superior Kings double) . Though it's a 4 star hotel the rooms are comfortable (not lavish or indulgent). The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the HK staff are very good. They serve a very lavish western breakfast on the 13th floor. The restaurant is small and can handle only 30 guests at a time. Breakfast time 6.30 am to 9.30 am. The restaurant staff are extremely polite and offer excellent services. The hotel has a spa as well. At the reception guests can book trips to Halongbay, Ninh Binh and Sapa. Over all a good and efficient hotel not a lavish and indulgent 4 star hotel.
