Detailed Reviews
I stayed here as part of a group tour with Intrepid, 3 nights in total with a night in Halong Bay in the middle.
I had 2 different rooms, similar quality and experience for both. No outside window, so room was very dark. There was a window overlooking an internal space above reception, open on all levels. Unfortunately this made it very noisy, particularly when housekeeping staff and inconsiderate guests were yelling down the hallway at each other from roughly 5am until midnight every day. Fortunately I had earplugs with me, which I used each night.
The bed was big and relatively comfy. The bathroom could do with an update, but did the trick.
The location of the hotel is great, right in the old district and an easy walk to the night markets, lake and lots of shops and restaurants. The streets around the hotel are pretty busy, which is to be expected in a busy city like Hanoi.
The breakfast room is small, so tables filled up pretty quickly. The food was nice, a mix of western and Asian. An additional toaster might be a good idea, as the 1 they had only cooked 1 slice at a time and was very slow.
I booked my airport transfer through the hotel for 350k. The driver was on time, car was clean and comfortable and I got to the airport in good time.
I liked the feel of the hotel, but unfortunately the noise at night near the rooms would turn me off staying here again. I’m a light sleeper and would prefer to pay a bit more, to get a better night sleep without having to wear earplugs.

This hotel has the feel of a much higher end hotel without the higher end prices. Nothing is ever perfect anywhere but if any issue came up the staff at this hotel immediately made things better. Their attentiveness is genuine, they really care about what they do. 5 star service does not explain at what levels they go to to make you feel, safe, comfortable, and at home at the property. Good breakfast with a little bit of everything local and western as well. The manager is incredible, he belongs at a Vegas Hotel. Will book here for every trip to Vietnam in the future.

The hotel is in a great location making walking to sites easy. My single room window looked over the courtyard. The room was clean and the front desk staff helpful. Issues with in room safe was resolved immediately and when rain threatened as I was going out to explore, an umbrella was offered for my use without asking. A good assortment of eastern & western food available for breakfast and with exception of one morning when I asked for scrambled eggs, the staff was cheerful. Anyone with mobility issues may find it difficult to get into the tub for a shower because the height is quite high but overall the hotel is one of the better ones at the 3* rating.

This hotel was booked for us by a tour operator, we flew from Ho Chi Minh city the morning of the booking, we arrived too early so the hotel asked us to come back after 2 pm, we agreed. We arrived after 2 pm to be told there was a water leak in our room, they told us that the hotel was fully booked and they had booked us into another hotel around the corner, we asked was it the same standard as their hotel, they told us it was. Off we went to this hotel, I asked to see the room before we agreed to stay there, it was smelly with no window, the bed cover was torn and the paint was peeling off the walls, so I told them no way, this was not good enough, he then showed us another room that was occupied at the time but we were assured that we could have the room at 7 pm that night, it was an acceptable room so we said yes. We went back to the hotel at 6.45 pm to find that the previous occupant hadn't booked out. At that stage we had had enough, we walked out and booked our own hotel. We told our tour operator what had happened, straight away we had a whatsapp from La Dolca Vita saying that our room had been repaired and we could have our room, they had our contact information and only whatsapped us when the tour operator contacted them to find out what was going on, by then we had already booked ourselves in to another hotel, there followed a spate of excuses and apologies from the Dolca Vita. Just for the hell of it I checked with Agoda, the hotel had 6 rooms available for that night. You cannot trust this hotel, you may book it but you could end up in a 3rd rate hotel around the corner, who knows. Basically this hotel blatantly lied to me about availability and the hotel they tried to get me in to was about 50% cheaper than La Dolce vita.

We stayed here twice as part of a Trip a Deal package not realising that we could have upgraded to a 4 star option further out. We are so glad that we missed this and stayed in this fine hotel instead. Location location location! This place is right in the heart of the action.
I have honestly stayed in many four star hotels which were not as nice as this. Our room was a very good size and had a generous bathroom with plenty of bench space. It had a large TV with a few English speaking channels and a comfy good sized bed. Our rooms were well off the street so we had no noise issues.
Breakfast was interesting and tasty. The breakfast staff worked hard to accommodate everyone's needs.
While this would be our hotel of choice on a return visit to Hanoi I will point out a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly, the step down from the bath where the shower is located, is a big one and people with mobility issues may find it problematic. Secondly, there is only one smallish elevator serving the hotel so a little patience is often required. We just planned this into our departure timings.
Thirdly, when we checked in for our second stay our room, in fact most of the floor, had a sour stale odour. We went straight back to reception and they moved us immediately to a different floor.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay in this well run hotel and as indicated earlier we would definitely stay here again.

In all my years of travel, this is the worst experience I have ever had.
1. The hotel needs to teach it's reception staff women manners and how to deal with customers, they are one of the worst front desk staff I have come across.
2. There is no way of contacting the reception from the room, both the phones are not working
3. The AC and fan don't work either, the ventilation is terrible and the room makes you feel suffocated.
4. The bath tub is so small, one can't even stand properly in it. The shower curtains are stinky.
5. The TV doesn't work as well
6. The breakfast timings are from 6.30 am to 9.00am. On a vacation nobody wakes up at 6:30am for breakfast.
7. The hotel lobby and rooms smell of pee. It stinks all over the place.
8. I had asked the reception staff to get my room cleaned one day when I was stepping out. i also hung the "Please clean my room" tag, they forgot and dint bother to get it done. I had to do it myself.
9. The day I was checking out, I had to go down to ask the reception to send someone to collect my bags, to my surprise the reception women laughed and told me to get it down myself. So basically I had to take the trolley and bring the bags down myself. It is the worst hotel in the history of hotels. Due to this reason I do not suggest this dumpster of a hotel in Hanoi.
There is literally no point in wasting money or time at this place. It's better they shut down this mockery.

Spent three nights in 2 different rooms, one with an outside window and the second with inside facing window. All rooms are small and outdated and bathroom is just OK. It was clean but the wear and tear of everything showed badly.
The included breakfast was good but nothing special.
The front staff was OK but at time we could feel the language barrier.
On the positive side the location is pretty good... on the other hand there are multiple option in the area that might meet your need.
I guess you get what you pay, the place was not expensive but I wish and I had spent a few more dollars and get a place a bit more upaded

La Dolce Vita is situated in the middle of the Old quarter in Hanoi. Slam bam in the middle of the hustle and bustle that makes Hanoi so amazing. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Giving advice on places to visit and making sure we are safe as well as our belongings. The breakfast included both Eastern and Western food options which is very convenient for sensitive stomachs. Loved my stay there and the convenience of being able to sightsee by foot at any time day or night.

Stayed here 3 nights, not my choice. The rooms are average, the bathrooms are old and the showers are too low for westerners to get wet. The breakfast was terrible no choice whatsoever. I asked for them to look at my airconditioner I am still waiting. I had a window in my room however, it looked out over the foyer so couldn't tell whether it was night or day. Would not stay here again. Also full of tour groups very loud and noisy. Oh and they only cleaned my room once.

Great location, nice enough room, clean and had fan and A/C but my room was in corner type location making it slightly dark. Not a proper shower, one of those hoses attached to the bath. Staff seemed friendly at start and some were genuine I'm sure but one guy, (was at reception and also standing over the breakfast staff watching & listening to what people asked fro and received, maybe some kind of supervisor?) on checkout as I was waiting outside the hotel for a taxi came running out showing me a picture on his phone and ranting about a pillow and he had to charge me a fine of 100,000 dong!. There was this picture on his phone with very faint stains (keep it clean now!) and luckily I had time to ask him to bring me back to the room to show me what he was on about. In the lift to the room he started saying that sometimes people who dye their hair leave these stains, now I should have been more insulted by that than I was as it took me a few times to tell him that I don't nor never have used hair dye. Every single grey hair on my head is well earned and I wouldn't dream of putting chemicals on my head to cover them up!..was he ageist? I don't know nor care as as soon as we got into the room and he turned over the offending pillow he was like..its ok, its ok, no problem. forget about the 100.000 dong I was gonna charge you. The maid apparently took a photo of this pillow and sent it to him. He couldn't prove that that pillow was in my room prior to my stay (nor indeed could I so in future for hotels like this might be an idea to take a pic of bed clothes and pillows?) and those stains were on it for a long time before I lay my head on it, if i laid my head on it at all. I know that the stains were actually...mildew..mildew that they tried to wash out, probably many times but clearly was not hair dye ( stains would have been darker and fresher I'm pretty sure) nor any other stain from bodily contact!!! What a chancer he was imho.

Yes sir, everything is available.
Hi, yes I fully concur with the responses you've had so far. The lake is ideal for exercise, as everywhere else is crowded and confined.
You would have no issue with safety I would think, as the area is always very busy with locals and tourists: especially crowded on the weekends!
