Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our group comprised 3 adults and a child and we had a comfortable stay at Hanoi Central & Hotel Residences. According to Michael the manager, the hotel was built in 2019. What helped make the stay comfortable: 1) Many electricity points that accepted the British power plug 2) Good breakfast, where guests could choose Western e.g., sunny side up, or local food e.g., pho. The kids liked the pancakes. There were also fresh fruits at the buffet counter. 3) Reliable WIFI in the rooms and lobby 4) Generous washing liquid detergent for the washing machine cum dryer 5) At least two Michelin eateries located within walking distance. Also a very good local eatery with low tables and chairs at a stone’s throw away serving incredibly tasty oysters and chicken skewers 6) Located on quieter small lane away from the incessant traffic noise and honking of the main streets 7) Extra bed could fit easily when we isolated a family member who caught a cold in one bedroom. 8) Cleaning service and bottled water provided daily Please take note of the following constraints: 1) There are no street views – essentially the windows face walls of the neighbouring buildings. There is some degree of sunlight entering the unit (We wanted two toilets rather than the street view of the one-toilet units) 2) Breakfast is a very short walk away at the sister hotel - Calista 3) Entrance of hotel has downward steps (not for those who mobility issues) 4) The signs in the toilet instruct guests to throw toilet paper into the bin, and not the WC (seems this is the norm for many buildings in Old Quarter) 5) There was a lack of hooks in the attached bathroom (The second bathroom located behind the kitchen had hooks for clothes) 6) There is no pool in the hotel. There is a small paid gymnasium (not part of the hotel operations) located on the first floor of the hotel. The staff (Michael, Ann and Huy) at the hotel were courteous, helpful and could communicate sufficiently well in English. Special kudos to Huy as he provided the most excellent food recommendations. We enjoyed immensely every recommendation he made. On our last evening, he recommended a dinner place where he had dined with his mom.

First of all couldn’t fault the staff big shout out to ANN and HUY for looking after us for booking restaurants and directions of attractions close by to hotel, hotel is in back street which at first I thought was off putting but with everyone BIP BIPPING horns every second it was a bonus, rooms are large and clean typical Vietnamese decor, breakfast included continental, with eggs bacon some Vietnamese dishes coffee and tea juices, I have seen one complaint about access for disabled people which the only obstacle is there entrance as you walk down about 6 steps to get in to foyer, but there is usually someone who will take your bags down for you, located close to a lot of attractions walking distance ,they booked Halong bay boat trip for us and was excellent! Not a 6 star but a nice 4 star and price is right and would stay again for proximity if I was bring family or friends back to Hanoi.

Great quiet hotel, located in a convenient area. Room was clean and had air conditioning. Breakfast could be improved but still has decent variety. Very decent price for our family room for 3 including a big bathroom and balcony. Would recommend!

Without a doubt one of the best hotel experiences I've had. The room (actually an amazing suite) was beautiful and spacious. The staff were super helpful and the location in the Old Quarter was so central to everything. I so enjoyed my stay here.

Please read this review till the end. Pros of the hotel: clean rooms in general, generally friendly staff, location is not on the main road, thus it was not as noisy & adequate breakfast if you want to start the day early. Very bad con: we booked a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite and paid a deposit for that. A week before arrival, I emailed the hotel to ensure our reservation was still good and they replied in the affirmative. When we arrived, the staff said they upgraded our room and it came with a balcony. It was actually a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom suite, with a queen size bed set up beside the sofa in the living room, the balcony is tiny with only standing space and faces the AC condensers of another building. We were a bit confused at first and thought perhaps we made a wrong booking. Upon checking our booking, this not indeed not the room we booked. We asked the staff and they insisted it was an upgrade as most guests like a room with a balcony. Finally, they said to maximise occupancy, and because we are a family of 3, they decided that we could do with a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit and just set up a bed in the living room. They said they had guests with bigger families and again to maximise occupancy, they downgraded us and expected us to believe a standing-space-only-balcony would made up for the 1 bedroom & 1 bathroom taken away. We booked for 6 nights and if we did not remember our original booking, we would have been cheated of 6 nights' fee. The management offered a discount of USD 10 per night for the room, which was an insult as the room is half of the one we originally booked. They then offered USD 20 discount. We insisted on having the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom unit as we had booked and put a deposit for it. They could not do so the first night and we had to take that room. They promised a change the 2nd night. We do not know if they moved our luggage to the right room the 2nd night as we were in Halong Bay but when we hot back, we got the right room. The staff were very apologetic, but still they said they sincerely thought the room with a balcony, though it was 50% less than what we booked, was an upgrade and we would be happy with it. So please check your booking even if you were told your room was upgraded to a supposedly better room.

Unfortunately this hotel was not up to my expectations and standards, it comes up as a 4 star hotel therefore i booked it but actually it is a 3 star hotel. Pros : it is close to everything in the city, staff were very good and helpful, rooms were clean and the grand suite I booked had good kitchennet. Cons: hotel is down narrow alley and you can't always get 7seater car down, so we had to walk with our bags to the hotel There is no breakfast in the hotel you have to walk down the street to another hotel for breakfast ( therefore means this cannot be rated a 4 star hotel), breakfast was also not great and very minimal When paying by credit card the charge you 3% bank fee :-( Our room had stains on the main bedroom floor and a very old damage iron board and old towels on day 1. overall just wasn't up to 4star hotel standard
