Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are looking to stay in the old quarter of Hanoi please do your self a favour and stay here. We had booked The Lavender after our tour of Vietnam to have a bit of an upper class stay. The main difference between the hotels we had previously stayed at in Hanoi the rooms in the Lavender were silent! Hanoi and especially the old quarter is a city that never sleeps, there is constant scooter noise and horns but this hotel has its noise dampening done right. The breakfast served in the morning is also excellent with a mix of bread, bacon and noodles. The room we stayed in was really comfortable with a bed big enough to fit three! (or two people assuming the starfish pose). My wife used the onsite Spa facilities which are more expensive than on the high street (as the time of writing there was a 20% discount for guests which we did not realise at first) but definitely worth it. We really want to give a big thank you to Andrea at reception. My wife had at first gone to one of the high street parlors for a massage, but the massuses was very unwell making her very distressed. She went back to the hotel and Andrea helped her at 9.45pm arrange a massage at the hotel and calm her down. Overall the service at The Lavender was outstanding and the staff really were first class. Thank you to all the employees for making our trip to Vietnam wonderful. Highly recommend!

Great little hotel in the madness that is Hanoi Old Quarter Staff were very helpful and friendly. Jenny at reception arranged a fabulous 2 day cruise for us to Halong Bay and taxis too and from the airport. The hotel is near the lake where you can access the open top bus to all the attractions on offer in the city, also have a lovely evening stroll.

We were a family group of 6, I had originally booked another hotel then realised it was in beer street so cancelled and found this gem of a hotel. We were welcomed and offered ginger tea whilst we sorted out paperwork. 2 of our rooms were at the front of the hotel and 1 at the back, but not really noisy. The rooms were a good size, clean and had a lovely small bathroom. Breakfasts were good, fresh eggs, omelettes and pancakes cooked for you. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located in the old town so easy to get about. There is a lift. I would stay again.

Absolutely awesome Loved my stay, will definitely be my go to hotel when in Hanoi. Jenny is by far one of the most genuine, nice receptionists I have encountered, thank you for your local suggestions. I honestly can't recommend this hotel enough

This is a charming hotel with a great vibe and is in the heart of the bustling Old Quarters. It was great value for money, the room had everything we needed. The staff at the front desk were amazingly helpful and attentive. The breakfast was really nice and they made pancakes on request. They were happy for us to leave our belongings there once we returned from our cruise, and in between our flights, even though we weren’t staying an extra night. I believe the smaller hotels make for a more personal experience. It was a great stay!

Excellent location on the old quarter. Clean and welcoming Nice size of room and we got choice of street or back facing. Took back which I think was quieter. Lots of choice for breakfast. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend

Great hotel near the center of the city. Easy walking distance to a lot of local food, drink, restaurants, shopping, and Hoang Kiem Lake. The staffs are friendly and helpful. They kept our luggage while we walked around town waiting to go to the airport at the end of the day. Breakfast was good and sufficient.

The rooms were small, but quaint, and the showers had plenty of hot water. They offer a complimentary breakfast, which was well stocked with Vietnamese cuisine. It’s located in the old quarter of Hanoi and you are surrounded with 1 million choices of street food.
