This is a well located guesthouse on the edge of central Bishkek, well served by marshruktas all over the city. The shared bathrooms were spotless, and the showers were hot and powerful, which was fantastic after a few weeks of cold, weak showers. There is a small courtyard and a very small though well equipped kitchen for socialising - though...

Sakura has the bones of a great hostel. At 1000 som, the double rooms are great value for Dushanbe. It has good facilities (including a pool, if you can believe it!) - it's spotlessly clean, has spacious double rooms and dorms, and is in a solid location. But there are some downsides - the shared areas (including kitchen) are tiny,...

We stayed there in the peak season, which is July. We was there for 2 different time during July and totally we stayed there for almost 2 weeks (mainly for applying visa for other countries). EVERYDAY IS FULL. So, get prepared for the crowds if you are coming in peak season. Good thing is that it's a place to meet...

We had a very bad experience with Sakura. We booked 1 day in advance 2 beds in the dorm. They told us we should not arrive so late in the evening so we said that we gonna be there before 6pm - if not we will call them again. The next day we arrived even earlier at 4pm only to...

The rooms are clean and good value, but don't expect anything special. All the rooms have shared bathrooms and they serve no breakfast. Staff is not always around, which can be annoying if you need them and only the manager speaks english. But looking at other places in Bishkek this is probably one of the best deals.

“If you arriving in Bishkek via a shared taxi coming from the east (eg Karakol or Kochkor), it's likely they will drive right by the hostel on Jibek Jolu. Keep an eye on the map/GPS and jump out at the corner of Sovietskaya. It's maybe 200m from the intersection. Also, if you need to go to the Tajik Embassy while you are staying at Sakura, the 17 trolley bus from Soviet (super close to the hostel) takes you there, with a short 3 block walk at the other end.”
