We made our way to Syri 1 because it is recommended by the lonely planet. Whilst the man on reception was very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English - we decided to leave without staying. They gave us a full refund without any fuss. Whilst the price at 80,000 kip a night is good value for Vientiane, we didn't... More

We arrived late By bus in Vientiane and we believed lonely planet for taking Syri 1. It was a bad option. The room was really dirty (and I'm used to somethings already) and in the middle of the night my friend wake up because it was raining in his bed... This guesthouse obvious needs an update!

The staff are so rude and unhelpful. A member of staff knowingly took my shoes from the front then when I asked where there's where I was rudely told it doesn't matter just use someone else's. Unfortunately no one else's where remotely a similar size so was walking round in shoes 3 sizes too big. Eventually after a big fuss... More

‎Syri 1 My wife and I decided to go to this hostel cause it was a 30second wallk from where the bus dropped us off. The price was right for a private room w/ bathroom, no a/c, wifi Barily working. But for 80 000 kip. Hard to say anything at first site. But once the sun went down and the... More

The entire building was an interesting walk. A common room and another patio area. We stayed upstairs, in room 8. The door was entirely ripped open and we had to put a padlock on it when we left. We still felt obliged to carry around our pass ports and money because the door was flimsy. It was like someone worked... More

Truth be told, I was thoroughly fed up with Laos by the time I arrived in Vientiane and my only selection criteria for accommodation was proximity to the minibus drop off point and not too expensive. Syri 1 was good on both points. Stayed 2 nights @ 80,000 kip/night for an en-suite double with fan and TV. Furnishings were rather... More

We just stayed one night in vientianne and went there because Lonely planet recomended it. (get it out of your book LP!) It was terrible! The beds were terrible, so uncomfortable, loads of moscuito's everywhere. Only one bathroom and toilet to share with everybody. The fan only worked a little and was noisy. The room was 90 000 kip for... More

Run by a very friendly family and the shower was great. Then I come with the negative side. The room (no. 03) looked outdated, the mattress felt like a rack with spirals and an amount of mosquitos like in the jungle. As the neighborhood is quiet and the surroundings ok this guesthouse really needs an update.

We only planned to stay in Vientiane 1 night anyway so just wanted a cheap room to bed down. We payed about £6 for a twin room with shared bathroom. The room was big and clean but in dire need of a lick of paint. Beds were really uncomfortable, like lying on a rack and bedding did have holes in... More

Chose this guesthouse as it had been recommended in the Lonely planet book. A standard room was 80,000. Very basic rooms with really dirty and ripped bedding. Stayed in room 6 where the window mesh was stuck down with Sellotape which kept peeling off therefore letting loads of Mosquitos in. When we complained after attacking about 50 with the shower...
