A night at Parisare is like sleeping at the museum. Collectibles scattered all over the house, psychologist chair that could have belonged to Sigmund Freud himself, and all set in a modern era architecture. Definitely charming and quiet. A real private house like real B&Bs are supposed to be. Walking distance of almost all the highlights of Colombo. Definitely a...

This was a privilege, like staying in a museum or a great aunt's house. After reading about all these colonial homes in my Michael Ondaatje books, I found myself staying in one, on my last night in Sri Lanka, and talking to the owner who said " oh Michael, yes I knew him" as she offered me a drink in...

First impression : Big door, curious but interesting yard. Reception : Very welcoming. No rooms available but gave us WiFi access to find other places. Made calls for us to find. Particularity : The lovely owner old lady has certainly Alzheimer diseases or quite something like that. She keeps repeating thongs. But she is a good person, wants to help...

My wife and I both asked the manager (Peter), on different phone calls, what the price was for a double room for 3 people and an extra bed. 4800 was the definitive answer. We arrived late and the manager told us it was 4200 for a double, 1100 more for the extra person, and 450 more for her breakfast: 5750rps....

We booked a room for two nights, and this was also confirmed to us, when we arrived in the evening. But next day in the morning when we had breakfast he told us suddenly that we had to check out, because the room is taken. 5 minutes before we overheared him on the phone when he confirmed a booking for...

awesome place, inspiring building, I did not see anything like it in Sri Lanka. The room rate is 2750 rps (including tax) and for that price the rooms are great value. It is kind of a home stay, so there are not many rooms available, and since it is very popular, book at least 1 week ahead and make sure...

This guesthouse will stay with me long after I leave. Incredible decor inside - open plan, cool and breezy (very desirable in hot colombo!). With an indoor tropical garden! The antique furniture (some from Sri Lanka's Dutch period) and family photographs are divine, and the friendly owner will answer any questions you have and tell you many interesting stories. She...

Lovely house, clean, great quite, open-air place to stay. The old lady that owns it will talk your ear off so be prepared but she (and the house) have some wonderful history to hear about. I would recommend it for someone wanting a quiet space. No food stores are near so you need to walk / tuk tuk to get...

Stayed here for two nights on a recent trip to Sri Lanka - and was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The house is fantastic - something out of a magazine - and I felt it to be a privilege to stay in this family home of the 80 year old owner of the house. The woman...

We arrived here only to be told that they were fully booked. Even though we called a few days before our booking mysteriously disappeared. After bout 20minutes the lady discovered that our name had indeed been written down but then crossed out. The most frustrating part of the situation was that the women and her staff weren't trying to help...
