Very clean, simple accommodation 10 minutes walk from Colombo Fort train station. Helpful staff. Rooms on the 2nd floor are slightly more expensive, but more spacious and newer. At a distance of 300 meters is a very good and not very expensive restaurant The Barge Cafe and Restaurant.

Rooms were okay, but the hotel itself was creepy and we felt very uncomfortable there. We arrived late at night, and the area didn't seem nice. There was a big road right next to the room, and the traffic made lot of noise. Staff were not very kind, but they were ok. We would never go again.

Response from eshana2013, Manager at City Beds The Regent

Dear nnikkk, We are sorry "it was very uncomfortable there". This is a hotel dead center in the city, hence the name... The hotel comes under the budget category, therefore, it is very confusing to justify your review of one star. The Hilton and Shangri la hotel were just down the road from us, maybe you should try them the next time. We wish you the best. Kind Regards, Citybeds.

We got to Colombo bus station from the airport and walked straight to the hotel. Took us about 15-20 minutes to walk to the place. The hosts were extremely gracious and welcoming. Despite getting a confirmation that our room would be ready on arrival, it was not and we had to wait a little bit while they readied the room. This was not a bother at all as there was a place to wait, wash up and rest. Our rooms were ready shortly and looked exactly the way they did in pictures we saw before booking. Spacious, super neat, extremely clean with all amenities one would need, including a coffee maker and kettle. Being supporters of the tiny living movement, my wife and I loved the minimalist design of the place. There is a refrigerator in the lobby to buy cold water and soft drinks. Those who need laundry service can avail it at the reception too. Centrally located, it’s about a 10 minute walk to Fort Train Station, 20 minute walk to the beach. There are also a lot of eateries nearby. They’ve also set up a tourist info wall in the lobby which directs you to places to eat and how far they are, very thoughtful. Great place to stay at, if you’re in Colombo and want to be close to the train and bus stations as well as good eateries I’d recommend staying at City Beds.

We only needed somewhere to rest our head for one night before heading onto Galle. Fort train station only 5mim walk away, room was large and clean with good air conditioner. Best part was how helpful and nice the staff were. They were waiting for us outside when we checked in at 1am then helped us with our Uber when it was time to leave as trains were on strike. Would happily stay again. great spot for a quick stop

Response from eshana2013, General Manager at City Beds The Regent
Responded 16 Sept 2019
Dear Todd00000, thank you for your lies, but there was no such thing. The A/c was serviced just one week before and the water in the shower is the same water that is used throughout the building and is supplied by the government. Further more, there was no other complaint such as this on that day or since inception. Todd......we wish you all the best.. Regards.

In my opinion, the room is 5 star, in fact, it is even better than the the 5 star hotel I'm staying in currently. I absolutely loved the surper deluxe rroom; it is really modern and well thought out; I loved the shower! However, the overall hotel is not much of a hotel feel. I had to climb up to my third floor room and there was no AC where the stairs are because it is outdoors. Also, the location is good but not very safe at night. My husband had an incident with a few drunk men. The biggest issue was the lack of breakfast; they don't provide breakfast at all, not even an option of room service or anything. Also, the hotel is situated right next to the train station, so it gets quite loud in the room. And, i think we were overcharged for our stay. The normal rate is half of what we payed. The staff is good. I had a pleasant stay overall. I think if i were to come for a short tourism trip, i wouldn't mind staying here again, ofcourse not at the price we paid.

This was a great find in Colombo in a good central location and close to the train station. the rooms were amazing, comfortable and very clean. They also had a kettle with tea and coffee plus drinking water. Great to be able to walk to the Dutch Hospital with all the restaurants and bars. I would certainly book to stay here again...the check in and check out was also very smooth and efficient.

In the heart of the city centre of Colombo in the most busy neighborhood and next to the train station, this hotel exists at a good rate. it is something between, a hotel, a hostel and an Airbnb. Using it for a couple of days (you do not need to spend more than 2 days in Colombo) it is at an ideal location, and very clean. The receptionists speak very good English, they give you good information on what to do, where to eat and what places to visit. They also give warnings on possible scams that are taking place outside the hotel and the nearby area. Highly recommended. The rooms offers hot water, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, clean bed linen, and even though they are next to a train station (made us worry in the beginning) they are pretty quiet to sleep in. Drinking water can be purchased (a bit expensive) through the shop floor. The only thing that we would like it to improve, is that the entrance is not very visible and taxis are not always able to stop in front of the main entrance as it is in the main junction of Colombo, meaning it is busy at all times. In addition, in the morning during our stay, works were conducted in the room next door, and we woke up quite early - something that we did not like at all. The workers were rude when we told them that we are sleeping and should not bang things around.
