Ares Hotel is located in old town just across the street from Haiga Sophia. Many many restaurants and shopping available. The rooms aren’t fancy but has everything you would need and the AC works great! The hotel employees are some of the kindest humans! Adorable, very friendly, and very helpful. They will meet you to show you the hotel, they will arrange any rides you may need, and they help you find things in Istanbul. The restaurant is great. The best lentil soup I’ve ever had! Seriously, the best lentil soup I’ve ever had. The Terrance has a great view :) I would 100% stay here again if visiting Istanbul.

I Was travel solo, five minutes walk from Blue Mosgue, five minutes walk from Hagia Sophia, its ++ conviniently located. Breakfast was OK but boring same everyday . Hotel is great and clean everyday . Breakfast is served at Lobby 7.30Am To 10.00 everyday which has not great cause they have lovely teracce. The best thing was Ayhan Salur hospitality - he was always available for help. He helped in getting currency exchanged, helped in loading credit on his mobile phone , you name it and he was there to help.Mr salur will arrange any tour you may wish to take & service is excellent. This hotel is excellent value. Highly recommended. I fully recommend this and will certainly stay here when next travel to Sultanahmet . Thanks Ayhan for making my stay wonderfull. It's be good to take the wife next time,

The room is nice and simple. Important for us all was clean. New towels every day. All we ask was immediately done. Thank you so much. If come late home at 3am in the morning no problem. The service stuff opens the door friendly. A Turkish simple breakfast plus a extremely motivated man on the reception who did all to feel comfortable. It is located at the centre of the heart of Istanbul. You can do all by walk here. Thank you so much for a great time

Just got back from Ares where we stayed at the Istanbull Oldcity . It was our first trip to Turkey and we wanted to make sure everything all t right. We were looking for a clean , friendly ,Our rooms little small and Open buffet breakfast was average , comfortable no-nonsense, and conveniently located hotel, in which we could feel welcome and humor Location was perfect for us. The owner and manager was very attentive and pleasant, especially Ayhan Salur, the manager very helpful! He really took an interest in us and gave some great Tour and restaurant recommendations. Ayhan arranged transportation from the Cruiseport to the hotelt, where we departed on a Ataturk Airport He also suggested a help for Cappadocia and Ephesus, which was located in the next block, for an all day tour. We were pleased with the travel agency staff, the tour guide and the price. The rooftop is an excellent place for views and coctail ; however,. We all agreed that if we return to Istanbul, and we hope we do, We cant wait to come back to Istanbul full of history and definitly iWewill stay again at Ares Hotel OLDCİTY

I visit Istanbul twice a year and I've stayed at several hotels. Ares Hotel is the worst of all.

The owner asked us to pay in advance whereas whe did not even see the room.

The rooms have nothing to do with the pictures on the website.
Rooms are so small that you can hardly go from the bed to the toilets.

The bathroom has not been cleaned propperly during our stay (mold in the bath tub, and spots on the mirror).

WiFi worked only 2 days during the whole week. We tried to restart it but it still did not work.

The breakfast is NOT a buffet. It is served in individual plate and is very poor. 1 sugar per person. sugar seems to be taken off someone else's plate since it is spotted and dirty. Same for the slice of cheese, that had obviously been taken off from someone who did not eat it.

The owner is obsessed with saving money.

There are plenty of hotels in Istanbul, you do NOT need to go to this one.

Ares Hotel is a nice choice of a hotel because of the good combination of price and location. The hotel staff are also excellent and very polite. They will help you out with anything you need, and will make sure your stay is comfortable.

About the hotel: first of all, it's in a great location - two minutes from Sultanahmet tram station which connects you to various areas in the city; Aya Sofya and Sultan Ahmet Mosque are a short walk away. Now, the rooms are really small, but I guess that's how it is if you want a reasonable price at the prime location. Housekeeping does a good job at cleaning the room. Just like some others have mentioned, there is some unpleasant smell coming out of bathroom but I did notice that the housekeeping used some bleach-like substance to try and reduce that smell.

Wifi was spotty; I couldn't get a good signal at my room, so I had to go to the restaurant where the signal was strong. The top floor terrace has a wonderful view of Aya Sofya, but it is open only at night. Breakfast is a standard fare of bread, coffee or tea, jam, cheeses, olives, and vegetables. Nothing spectacular but a solid choice to start the day.

All in all, it is a good hotel, which I recommend to others.

I would highly recommend staying away from this hotel if you are a woman. I stayed three nights and the night/morning desk clerk was extremely rude and scary. The last night, a friend of mine who was also in istanbul came to my hotel to hang out. At midnight, this scary man pounded on my door demanding tmy guest's passport. For the previous two nights, my friend with whom i was traveling was also staying with me and she never had to give her passport - the reservation was under my name - so I didnt think this was a rule. When we came down to reception, he screamed at us while my friend apologized profusely and respectfully as we explained that we didnt mean to break a rule and that he wasnt staying overnight - just came by for a few hours. He just kept yelling, and he made my friend leave, while I returned to my room absolutely terrified. This was the worst incident, but this employee had been incredibly rude to my female friend and me for the entire duration. When she asked for assistance with the wifi (which wasnt working and was the main reason we chose the hotel), he said aggressively, "i dont know what you dont understand - its internet" which didnt make sense and was very condescending. With a plethora of hotel choices, i would never subject myself to this place although the room and hotel itself were more than adequate. Very scary experience.
