Positives: My partner and I stayed at Gulhane Corner hotel in May 2013 for 5 nights. The hotel is located in a great place - very central to the main tourist sites of Aya Sofia, the Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet Camii) and the Basilica Cistern. It is also very close to the Galata bridge, Gulhane Park and the Bazaar (both...

I recently completed a three night stay here and was more than satisfied with my experience. The staff is wonderful. They are eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible and have excellent advice for visiting sights that are off the beaten path. I was warmly greeted every single time I entered the building and immediately asked how I...

Great small hotel with lovely people who took care of me when I was sick in Istanbul, bringing me hot water and honey to my room so that I could make hot lemon drinks. When I first arrived they bought a breakfast plate to my room. Spent 5 days there as a single traveller in a room with a double...

I stopped over in Istanbul for 2 days after a long business trip in Italy. I had no time to do an in-depth research, so I booked this hotel for its high rating and it didn't disappoint me at all. Location-wise, Gulhane is in an old town of Istanbul, which is in walking distance to most of the famous attractions...

This hotel has an exсellent central position, some minutes walk from the most important places of interest and some meters from the tram stop (it's better to take a pair of earplugs if you have sensible sleep). I stayed at this hotel for 10 days from march 8th onwards, all i can say is that for a small hotel they have certainly got everything right :) The staff were second to none with the offer of regular cay and traditional turkish kahve, the breakfast area is a little on the small side but the food more than...

Our hotel is in the heart of the old city and there are strict rules about constructions. We tried to keep originality of building during renovation. Because of restriction of construction all rooms do not have same size , some rooms are smaller than the others. But generally we have a comparatively good room size for Old City of Istanbul....

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
