We arrived at 5am after a long haul flight to find this hotel locked up and with all the lights of. The sign said it was closed for renovations, but it seemed to have gone out of business as there was nobody there working on the hotel the entire time we were there. Luckily, a hotel over the road had... More

We turned up at this hotel to find the door padlocked, nobody around and a sign on the door saying that it was closed for construction work. Not the greatest start to a trip!! We went to the nearby Amira hotel who helped us phone Expedia (who we had booked through) and they arranged another hotel for us. If you... More

I arrived at the Albinas hotel and it was SHUT DOWN for reparations. A very unpleasant surprise, especially for a solo female traveller. They offered to shift me to another dingy hotel that they had an agreement with, but I chose not to stay there. The incredulous thing is, I called days before my arrival and no one mentioned a... I had reservations to stay at this hotel in July (2 sets of date). However my trip was scheduled to start the week immediately following the Coup in Turkey. Based on recommendation from state department (and US airlines weren't even flying to Turkey again yet) we cancelled out trip. Hotel refused to refund our reservation. (and it took many days... When we got to the hotel we were greeted by the cool sleek layout and fantastic air conditioning. The receptionist immediately got us cold water before we sat down to check in. Due to my other half getting the dates wrong on our booking we had had to rebook that morning over the phone before we flew and the staff... More

The rooms (we stayed twice) were light, clean and had a truly comfortable ambience. We stayed in rooms with small balconies. Wifi was terrific, the breakfast had considerable range and the staff were so very very helpful. Great location - walking distance to the key Sultanahmet sites. We felt at home immediately at Albinas.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
