The room looks like in the pictures. Excellent location with easy access to Galata area cafes and shops, but off the main street. Very friendly and helpful but discreet host. The reservations worked smoothly. Unfortunately other reviewers were right about the noise from other rooms. Also the birds outdoors kept awake even my husband, who usually is a sound sleeper.... The appartment is situated only 5 minutes walking from the Galata-tower and still in a friendly, quiet and safe neighborhood. Around you will find some local shops and a few good places for breakfast. The appartment itself is well equiped. And the view.... wel the view.... Is indeed amazing. At daytime as well at night. Great to have breakfast with... More

We stayed in the ground floor apartment at Serdar-i Ekrem 59 for 8 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The apartment was located in one of the nicest parts of town, with the main street itself filled with interesting boutiques, cafes and restaurants. It was also well positioned for us to visit other neighbourhoods in Beyolgu, including Cihangir. The apartment... More

In Early September, we had the pleasure of staying at Serdar-i Ekrem 59 for 5 nights. Serdar-i Ekrem 59 is ideally located in a residential yet lively up-and-coming neighborhood about 5 minutes' walk to Tunel, Istiklal Caddesi, and an even shorter walk to the Galata Tower. There are numerous shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. For us, it was the perfect... More

We stayed in August 2013, but I am only writing now, so the earliest the system let me put in was October 2013. The top floor has amazing views of the water and the Old City and the room has a lot of character and is very nice and quiet. The WiFi and climate control are excellent. The Manager, Zeynab,... We stayed for four nights in room 3 in this newly renovated old Istanbul town house on the Beyoglu hillside adjacent to the Galata tower.. The apartment itself was equipped to a very high standard and looked great. Both the owner Ali and manager Zeyneb were most helpful and accommodating in all regards. Our only concerns was the lack of... More

Visiting Istanbul? There is absolutely NO better place to stay than here. Tucked away nicely on a charming street near Galata Tower, this place is an all-round winner. Location is tops, near "Independence" Ave, Taksim and Cihangir. All the restaurants, cafés, clubs are walking distance (foodie heaven). All the historical sights are 10 minutes by taxi (don't make the mistake... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.

“The ground floor apartment in which we stayed was the most affordable. Inevitably, being at ground level there was some noise from the road, but this was hardly problematic. I assume that the higher floors have a better view, but the ground floor was convenient and well priced.”

“Actually stayed in August, 2013, but am only writing the review now, as I am catching up on my backlog of reviews that I have to do. The system only allows me to put October, 2013 as the earliest I stayed. We had the top room, with spectacular views of the water and the Old City. Really spectacular. Zeyneb, the manager, was also very helpful. The room has a lot of character, the air conditioning worked very well and so did the WiFi. This is not a place for businessmen or older people to stay, however. There is no breakfast, though there are shops right down the street. However, the main issue is that you have to walk up a very big hill to get to the hotel if you take the tram to Tophane or you have to walk up a hill to get to the Sishane metro. The hotel is down a trendy street, but is very quiet. Taxis may have trouble finding it if they don't use their GPS. If you don't mind not getting breakfast and you don't mind the walk up hills, this is a very nice place to spend a few days and I wholeheartedly recommend the top floor with the great views!”
