The central location of the hotel: it is located between the tourist areas (Sultanahmet and Ayosofia), and modern Istanbul (Galata and Taksim Square). The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Suleymane mosque, and close to the shops of Eminonu where you can embark on the Asian side or simply take a stroll on the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn or visit the island to the princes.
Reception of receptionists: they will offer you excursions at a lower price and will be able to listen to your desires! A big thank you to Yunus, Enes and Nuh without whom our stay at the hotel would not have been the same!
The view of the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Galata tower! A breathtaking view day and night! A magnificent sunrise to admire while having breakfast in the restaurant with picture window.

I actually booked this hotel very last minute, and am extremely glad I had the pleasure of visiting... As soon as I rang, enquiring about some information, the man on the phone, Enes, was amazing. As we arrived he remembered me, was so friendly, helpful and natural in his approach. He even went out on his scooter to get us something from a local shop to help us with our stay. The hotel is up a slightly steep hill, but the location was great and the area felt safe. Pool is fab, food and drink reasonably priced. Yunes who did most of the night shifts was equally as accommodating. But yeah, I would highly recommend as I have never experienced service as good as this on my travels. I hope the new travel rules don't affect the business too much as we hope to visit again. Yunes and Enes are a credit to the hotel and it was a pleasure meeting them and staying with you.

Thanks, Ryan & Jasmine x

I couldn’t have selected a better hotel while staying in Istanbul. It is worth more of what you are paying for. I stayed with my boyfriend, my best friend, her sister, my sister, aunt, and other 2 of their friends, they were all delighted with this place. It is located at the heart of the city, walking distance to the bazaar and other key places like restaurants and stores and short driving distance to key places. The service provided was outstanding, Enes and Nur were the absolute best, as well as the rest of the staff members (which I don’t remember their names) they were all very helpful and always had the best attitude towards anything. I think this hotel has the best view of the city, it has a nice pool and also a good breakfast. The room i got was not big, but good enough for two people. Also it is located in a very steep hill, so when you come back walking, it will be like a 5 min cardio, which we didn’t mind. Next time I’m back at Istanbul, i am definitely staying there again.

Where to start. Some of my complaints about apt 5 in the annex go from the serious to the minor but all added up to one of the worst rooms I have stayed in (and I don't stay in fancy places).
• Opened the blinds and two men in underwear were 4 metres away in the building opposite lying on their bed staring at us (blinds had to be kept closed.
• There seems to be no fire escape from the building I don't know how you would get out. I spent most of the night waking up thinking of this as the only access is a spiral staircase.
• The terrace is not private as advertised for apt 5, anyone can access it and indeed did while we were there at night time. Also, it just has some seats and no shelter so you would be boiled alive during the day.
• The electrics in the room was not adequate, the kettle could to even reach so we had to put it between the beds. The socket in the bathroom was coming off the wall.
• No glasses in the room and when I lifted one of the coffee cups it was sticky and stuck to the saucer.
• The beds are of very cheap quality and you get one very thin blanket. The third bed was an even cheaper camp bed it barely took the weight of our bag on it.
• While it was warm in the room we had to turn off the aircon as it blew directly on the beds and indeed my friend got cramp in both legs because of it.
• They supply shampoo and other things in the bathroom but there is no where to put them in the shower as the holder is rubbish and they just fall through,
• The pedal bin in the bathroom was broken and no toilet roll on the holder (why was the holder there then?). The sink was tiny you can hardly fit anything on it and it was hard to even wash your hands, nowhere to put towels apart from 2 hooks on the back of the door but then there was nowhere to put a hand towel which we just put hanging on the sink door.
• Noise at night was a nightmare, the door are heavy and metal and you can hear every person coming and going.
Has anyone who works in the hotel actually stayed in this room??

We were booked in for four nights and had to stay the first night as we had arrived late. We went out to get food but the area around it does not welcome tourists (especially at night) and when we moved hotels we felt a lot safer. We left immediately after breakfast which wasn’t great either, to be honest (But not the worst).

The annex apt 5 was not cheaper than the main hotel and I chose it solely on the terrace but it was a complete waste and it does not look like it does in the pictures on the website.

I have never walked out of a hotel before and I have tried contacting the hotel to address my concerns but I have had no response which is disappointing as the staff did seem nice. Maybe the main hotel was nice but there was no other room to move to so it wasn’t an option. We moved to a nicer area near the main mosques and it wasn’t any more expensive than this hotel. I had come from travelling around Georgia and this was much worse than any hotel there.

Our room and the bathroom was really small and extremely dirty. We found some hairs in the sink and s*** in the toilet really !!
Towels not clean as well.
When we complain at the reception , they didn’t do anything. My wife has to buy some cleaning tissue to clean herself the bathroom.
The surrounding of the hotel is a disaster , like extremely dirty and old building looks like a garbage.
The view is quiet nice if you forget the metro is literally downstairs of the hotel and really loud.
We had a terrible stay there. Not going in the swimming pool for 4 days because cats and pigeon drinking there and alway in the shadow.
The only time we wanted to go to the pool the reception said they have no towel to provide us
I can’t believed this hotel is still opened.
The terrasse with the view is opening only from 10.30am to 10.30 pm so if you’re visiting Istanbul during the day and eating outside you can’t almost never use it.
One time , I asked the reception for wine glasses to finish the bottle of wine I bought at the hotel and the guy said no , only drinks from hotel allowed !! Had to justify myself to get glasses ! Thanks god !!
I understand why they charge me for the 4 nights at the checkin , otherwise we don’t wanted to stay there 5 more minutes.
Only a small sorry for all this troubles is clearly not enough.
Only the breakfast is acceptable except the coffee , tea and juices not fresh
This is a disaster
Please of you read this. BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE

We booked this “wannabe"hotel based on the good reviews written on “Booking.com”, but it was a terrible experience.
First of all, the hotel is located on a hill, in a dangerous area surrounded by mountains of garbage and shady people.

Secondly, after we made the check-in we were offered two economy rooms instead of two standard rooms, which we reserved. We tried to explain the reception guy that we booked another room, and he was keep lying us, that this is the standard room which we reserved even through we saw the pictures from Booking.com that this was the economy room!!!
The rooms were terrible, not more than 10 square meters, with old and broken furniture, and a smelly bathroom.
After keep complaining about this garbage rooms they offered to change only one of the rooms, due to “fully occupancy”, the next day.
The next day, when we came to the reception we spoke with a grumpy man, which he did not now anything about this change and he was rude and angry. He lied us that the hotel is fully booked and he doesn’t have rooms available to change us the room. After keep complaining about the situation he changed us on of the rooms room with the room that we reserved, a standard one.
Moreover, the breakfast was good but everything came into small quantity. We had to ask everytime to make the refill for coffee, milk, cheese and bread, making us feel uncomfortable.
The only good thing about this hotel, was a friendly employee, named Ibrahim, who was customer oriented and very helpful. The reception guys should learn from him how to treat the customers!
To sum up, please a kid this hotel! It is a scam and they will ruin your holiday!

Very cool hotel in a great location next to public transport, Istanbul University and a cool Lounge district. You could tell our room was very historic, and they tried to keep it authentic which was very cool. The view into both the Europe and Asia sides of the city can't be beat as well. They had a great breakfast spread with many options. The staff were super helpful and nice as well! Beware when getting a taxi to the hotel to confirm that this is HHK hotel not HHK downtown hotel because we accidently got dropped off in the wrong place at first!

This is a wonderful boutique hotel in a beautifully converted Ottoman period house. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The view from the pool and terrace areas are panoramic and breathtaking. The sublimely peaceful Süleymaniye Mosque is just five minutes’ walk up the hill. The surrounding area is fascinatingly... it is a working part of the city - with shops, stalls, workshops and street food places. It is a great opportunity to stay amongst the heart of working Istanbul. Avoid if you only want a ‘gated community’ style luxury stay and are uncomfortable with mixing with working people in the neighbourhood (as one recent reviewer seems to be), but highly recommended for those who want some simple luxuries, generous-spirited patrons, stunning views and the opportunity to experience some authentic Istanbullu life on their hotel doorstep!

The hotel is located in a historic house and offers a unique panoramic view. Why no one is speaking about this gem! It is un *** belivably amazing! I have a thousand pictures of the view as it is truly astonishing.
Also the hospitality is superb, they really do the best for you, but not in a way of a 5 star hotel where you find a high level of standardised policies. Rather they go out of the way to help you and make it a real personal relationship.

I highly recommend this hotel to people like me - who like to explore the city in unique hotels with a personal touch, I would say people who appreciate this wonderful emotions of getting to know true Istanbul.

Exceptional. Warmest memories.

The hotel is quirky, clean & welcoming.
Our airport transfer company found it hard to find, and were reluctant to leave us there. As it is really off the main tourist drag. However, it is a really good location for accessing everything Istanbul has to offer !

Has it’s own Hamam : steam room & sauna. No massage. Priced in euros.
The pool was too chilly for us !

The apartment with terrace was a room in a separate building down a very steep hill. Followed by steep stairs, especially to access the roof terrace, for amazing views.

Equipped with towels, A kettle, 1 cup, 3 beds, mini fridge & hairdryer.

We gave up eating hotel breakfast as too lazy to walk the hill to eat ! So we used a fab bakery around the corner instead !
The local shopping, bakeries & restaurants were affordable, friendly & nice.
