Cheap and basic accomodation in central location, walking distance to essentially all sights and places of interest in Istanbul. Breakfast is boiled egg, tomato and cucumber + bread, served till 12 so if youre lazy getting up you wont go hungry. Staff are very friendly and helpful, which is always a welcome releif. Only thing: in 24bed dorm (and possibly...

This is a place you can hate and love! I stayed there for tree nights with two friends. The location is the best! You are walking distance from the Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern and the Blue Mosque and right in front of the Topkapi Palace!! The staff is nice and helpful, Keilly and Ali made us feel at home The...

I travelled through Turkey and slept in many Ho(s)tels but The Mavi Guesthouse is a special place to be - very nice working staff, a helpful owner and a special atmosphere. We cooked, laughed and ate together like in a big family. Up to my mind this magic atmosphere is more important than clean bathrooms and new, modern establishment.

We had a great time staying here. The staff and owner, Ali, are the best. They made everyone feel like one big family. Everyone has breakfast together, cooked dinner in the evenings, even learned to play backgammon. The location is perfect, the view is amazing. You dont even have to leave the neighborhood to see most everything. Ali can plan...

The staff at thıs hostel are frıendly, helpful and great people to talk to. HOWEVER, they are unfortunate enough to work at an overstuffed, claustraphobıc, and, as a result, filthy establishment. The bathrooms commonly have a thin cover of muck on the floor and water spraying everywhere. The friendly cleaning staff is overwhelmed. You only get one set of clean...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
