Istanbul is one of the great tourist destinations and Hotel Aksaray is an excellent place to explore it from. It has easy access from the airport, is close walking distance to some of the greatest sights - Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Suleyman Mosque and the whole Sultan Ahmet shopping district. A minute or 2's walk connects you to the Tramway... More

The hotel itself is quite good, but location is realy bad due to shops for russian wholesale byers, so that there are a lot of people outside, this district is a big market. But close to center, just 3-4 stops by tram to old city. The breakfast is standart . The hotel provided free transfer to airport, it is very... More

Stayed there at September 2010, 4 nights, with a small group of friends. Irresponsible and bad Tourist Agency pick up this hotel, charge me 100e plus !!!! for "single" room (I was given small double room, with 2 small separate beds, instead of one normal, but they've been so kind an give me real single room...). I'm blaming me for... More

If you're looking for a good place but below average room service, choose this hotel. Definitely not a deluxe hotel, but was worth what I paid for since I searched for a place near Taksim and Fatih.

I wanted to be optimistic about this hotel, but it was a huge disappointment. Arrived to find our reservations "did not exist" and were put up in another roach motel across the street. The next night we were put back into the Aksaray hotel and tried to stay out of the room as much as humanly possible. The hotel was... More

We arrived in Istanbul and were directed to this hotel by the Tourist Information place. The bedding was disgusting it had faecal stains on it and was ripped. The room was dark and stunk. The toliet was black. We asked for another room which was just as bad. We slept on top of the bed for 2 hours then packed... More

We have been in Aksaray Hotel 10 nights. Hotel building and every thing in it were old. The staff didn't know any language just Turkish and their behavior were not friendly. The room lighting was not sufficient. The air conditioner rarely was working well and you had to open the window but the highway noises caused you to close it.... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
