I went to Istanbul with an organized group so there was no much choice of the hotel I was staying. My expectations were low before the trip as the price of the stay was very cheap. Still, it was worse than what I had expected. First, we checked-in a bit late - 6 p.m. as my boyfriend and I went...

Small and comfortable hotel in the old district of central Istanbul. Offer a great breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Are nearby metro station and tram stop. Much of the sights can be explored on foot.

Where to start from? old and grey towels, bad smelling blankets, very noisy reception all night, spoiled wall paint (due to moisture), breakfast in badly ventilated basement (and cheapest food products). Hotel management is watching all the corridors via CCTV so I doubt they may be watching or listening the rooms as well. If you are a male, it is...

We were staying in Beyaz Kugu hotel, me and my friends, we knew it's a three stars hotel, but we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw that dirty windows...we even couldn't look outside. The room was also not very clean, but the towels from bathroom were really white and good smelling. And the bathroom was ok too. The breakfast...

Reception staff (often in the person of a dark-haired woman in her mid-forties) is most unwelcome and rude - could not answer a simple question about the city and refused to call the Galata port for information when we asked about Bosphorus cruises (other than those that the hotel advertised for). We were told that we are free to leave...

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
