This was our first trip to Istanbul. We chose this hotel through the internet and the gods must have been smiling on us. We were warmly greeted by Yousuf (not sure if this is correct spelling) who insisted on taking our heavy bags up to the 2nd floor to our room with a view of the a Mosque. During our...

Just returned from a visit to Istanbul, where I stayed at the Ahmet Efendi Evi, convenient located in the Sultanahmet "old city" section. From the moment I arrived until my departure 4 days later, my hosts were the epitome of hospitality. Whatever my needs were met with professionalism and courtesy, from booking airport transfers, providing directions and restaurant recommendations. My...

The positives are it is scrupulously clean and well presented. That guy Yousuf whom we saw most is dedicated and keeps things orderly and clean. Downsides are tea and coffee making not available and believe me you need this after a trek around Sultan - Ahmet and its numerous attractions. Further the Shower in the twin room my son and...

best decision ever. The location was perfect. It felt like being in a quiet villiage, while in reality you are only a few feet from the blue mosque. What makes this hotel even better is the customization of your trip by the staff. They know exactly where to go, how to get there, and what to see and will help...

Hotel is cute B&B in the center of Istanbul, walking distance to the most known sites. The room and bathrooms are small but clean and comfy, I went with my girlfriend and we spent all the time out, only slept in our room. It is about 10 min walking distance to Blue Mosque and most of the sites. Upon check...

I had the pleasure of staying in this hotel this year the month of February, I arrived after a complicated transfer and was feeling very uneasy as I was on my own. When I arrived I was greeted at the door and made to feel more than welcome, I was assured everything would be okay and I would be very...

This small hotel is family run. Located on a quiet street in Sultan Ahmet area it's close to all major attractions. Rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean and the staff is very helpful. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for 4 nights in June. Yusef is there day and night and is polite and extremely helpful with any questions you may have. After checking us in, he also circled all the tourist spots for us on a map and also showed us an eatery that’s very reasonable and not too touristy. The location of the hotel is...

It's a great value for money. The location is away from the center of Suntanahmet, though within walking distance of Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, the train station, and other attractions. The owner and his family live on the premises and are very cultured and knowledgeable. The owner drew up a sample three day itinerary for us even before we asked...

Well situated , a quick walk to the main sights. Fantastic service from the charming Yousef who helped me when my Bank card was swallowed by an ATM at the airport. Rooms are well equipped, but are tiny and the bathrooms are even tinier. We couldn't keep the bathroom dry because the shower was so tiny, very messy! Going back...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
