Found Asmali to be a great, low cost, central spot for a quick stay in the city to see the sights before heading south to the Lycian Way. Short walk to the biggest must-sees in Istanbul, and very friendly staff.

It was a nightmare. First, no reception, just a small room where an attendant stays, so bags have to be taken immediately from taxi to room, but there is no elevator!, so you have to struggle with spiral stairs that can barely fit a person. Once in room, you find no place to walk as beds fill room due to...

We booked the hotel via Booking for 5 nights. We booked a triple room (we were given 2 double beds). The first night, the aircon worked for 20 minutes and then switched off. It was unbearably hot and humid. We called to reception and complained. They said they would have it fixed the next day. We slept with windows open...

I have just returned from 5 days at Asmaili where I stayed with my 20yr daughter. Yes the hotel is abit tired and old fashioned and in need of an up-date. However, the rooms were clean and comfortable. One downside the A/C units outside the window are pretty noisy. The towels were changed daily and the staff were very nice....

We chose this place due to its location and price. The sad fact is that we nade a reservation with booking.com for 120 euro and received an email of cancellation a couple of days prior to our journey. We rebooked, didn't pay attention and ended up paying double and a half for exactly the same room. We talked to the...

Have indeed very mixed feelings about the hotel, especially during the first day. First of all the person at the reception was doubting we paid for our stay (references to the mail from the hotel, where the receptionist confirmed they successfully processed the payment + the sms confirmation from bank about the transaction with the hotel code was not making...

We stayed in a standard room for 4 days at this hotel - we were very pleased with it! Our room was nice with a working AC and a nice and well-equipped bathroom. The bed was a bit hard, and there was some holes in the floor, but those were minor flaws compared to all the good things we experienced...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
