Hotel's Favourite

I’ve stayed in a ton of hotels around Karaköy, Galata, Eminönü, and Beyolgu, and this one was my absolute favorite. Other places have had shady front desk and management, prolly jaded from tourists, but Zeynep the manager and the entire staff are extremely professional, calm, friendly, and helpful. The rooms are renovated industrial style, big windows with nice light, high ceilings, clean and smell good, no lingering smoke smell like other hotels can have. The breakfasts are great too and best part is you’re smack in the middle of galata bridge and tower, so you can walk to istiklal, both bazaars, and everything in between. I’ll probably book here the rest of my trips to İstanbul. 😎

The room was completely spotless, great location - very close to Galata Tower (but not too close so you hear any noise) and the staff went above and beyond, providing so many recommendations. We were initially a bit concerned about going abroad due to COVID19 but the cleanliness and the protocol adhered to was phenomenal. Masks, hand sanitiser, antibacterial wipes were provided, and there was not a single bit of dirt or dust visible in the hotel. The photos online do the place no justice, far more character than the photos suggest and we will undoubtedly stay here again. Couldn't recommend Bankerhan more!!

I stayed here 3 times, Oct/Nov 2020. So needless to say I am a big fan. The location could not be better as it sit close to the Galat Tower, but yet is is tucked away in a cul de sac, thus cutting out any traffic or pedestrian noise. The rooms are tastefully furnished, I was upgraded twice upon my returns and found the both the single and doubles very accommodating. The staff, especially Zahnik, (sp?), to be so helpful and concerned about my well being while I was in Istanbul. She offered me the use of the kitchen as it was closed due to covid, she also was very helpful with pointers about Istanbul. This will always be my "go-to" hotel when I return to one of my favorite cities in the world. Again, a big thank you to all the staff at The Bankerhan Hotel. Until next time, cheers. PS, below it asks if this is a budget or midrange, I have to say, I was very surprised to see how inexpensive it was given how nice the rooms are as well as the location.

Everyone at Bankerhan Hotel was incredibly welcoming and helpful; there was a problem with my reservation, and it was resolved proactively, quickly and professionally.
Location is unbeatable as well; 5 min walking to Karakoy tram station and the funicular that takes to Istiakl Street and the metro station.
It is located on a very quiet street, without noise or traffic.
The price-quality ratio is excellent
I highly recommend it!!

Located in the midst of Karaköy, the modern name for ancient Galata, the Bankerhan Hotel is located at the northern part of the Golden Horn mouth on the European side of Bosphorus. You enter it through a very small lane, too narrow for any traffic and with that: quiet! This hotel is anything but one of the faceless and non-personal chain hotels. It's a gem that you hardly want to share once you have found it. The location is connected with the surrounding neighborhoods through streets originating from Karaköy Square. The Galata Bridge links Karaköy to Eminönü in the southwest. Bankerhan is both a perfect spot to experience the real Istanbul nightlife, but you can also spend your evenings quietly in one of the excellent restaurants nearby. Last but certainly not least the staff of Bankerhan will welcome you as friends and will make it difficult to leave....Thanks for your exceptional hospitality!

We stayed at Bankerhan for a few days in January.

The rooms are very clean and beds are very comfortable. They aren't huge but space is used very efficiently.

Breakfast is homemade and fresh. They offer both Turkish and continental options.

The manager and front desk staff are super friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke Englush so we didn't have any communication issues.

We emailed the hotel before our trip and they arranged airport transfers for us which was extremely helpful and convenient.

The location is extremely convenient, two blocks to the tram line into Sultanahmet, and to the ferry terminal on the Golden Horn.

Highly recommend , especially if you like repurposed old buildings!

The service was fantastic. I was happy to be upgraded to a bigger room to begin with, and the room was modern and recently-spruced up. It had everything I needed for my stay. It was of a good size, and I liked the rainshower too. Also, the receptionist when I arrived (Zayanee I think was her name) was incredibly helpful with providing me with instructions for the room, as well as directions. She even lent me her IstanbulKart for the duration of my stay, which I returned to her when I left. Her service to me, went above and beyond and I would highly recommend this property. Breakfast was a good spread of cheeses and cold cuts, alongside several hot items, cereal and olives. Also, it's only a 5-7 minute walk from the Karakoy T1 tram line, which makes it really easy to access the main tourist sights in Sultanhamet.

NOTE: The hotel is located on a one-way street, so getting there will be difficult for taxis and shuttle buses, not to mention there are always cars parked there. Only makes it difficult as I had a large luggage, so be prepared.

I stayed here while I underwent a cosmetic procedure and I have to say I was very impressed! First, the location is spectacular, it’s 15 min walk to Taksim and right by the Galata Tower. The hotel manager Zeynap goes above and beyond and treats you like family to make sure you’re okay, comfortable and even makes sure you’re eating! I was upgraded to a sea view room which made the morning sunrise extra special. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking to vacation, business or cosmetic tourism.

I visited Turkey in late November/early December 2019. Since I was traveling to other cities during my trip, I booked two separate hotels in Istanbul at the beginning and end of my trip. Luckily, I chose the Bankerhan hotel for the latter part of my stay. It exceeded my expectations!!! My room was: large, very clean, had a big comfortable bed, a great bathroom, and had all the amenities I required. The stay also included a breakfast buffet. This contemporary hotel is located right near the Galata tower/area including in its immediate vicinity all the neat hipster style streets, chic local shops, restaurants and cafes. It’s also in close proximity to public transit, including easy access to many of the beautiful and historic sites in this great city.

A special thanks to Ozcan at the Bankerhan, who was so kind, very helpful throughout my stay as he always directed me to excellent restaurants and nearby sights! I highly recommend this place!!!

Stop looking at anymore hotels, Bankerhan is perfect for everything in Istanbul! I stayed here for 6 nights, I liased directly with Zeynab via WhatsApp which you can find on their website. She was able to upgrade me for free to a room with complete breathtaking panoramic views across the bospherus. I'm talking amazing views, with ships and yachts passing by. It's like the window is a painting, it's that good.

The hotel & each room I stayed in, is extremely QUIET which is so important to me, because I'm a light sleeper, & i moved from another hotel in Istanbul, in the Kumkapi District which is so noisy day& night with regular traffic jams& cars constantly beeping right on the street below, till11pm. I thought this was just Istanbul, and I really wasnt enjoying it as I couldn't relax with the noise pollution. It's relentless the beeping in certain areas of istanbul! But Karakoy & this lovely hotel are worlds away from the noise! The streets are so small in karakoy& you hardly get any cars go through there, it's like a cool little oasis of mainly pedestrians. the area attracts arty, hipster types of locals& tourists alike. No beeping cars! karakoy& Galata District is like a quiet zone in Istanbul.

Zeynab& the other staff couldn't do enough for me. One gentleman on the desk sorted out my Istanbulkart so I could use the metro-i highly recommend using the metro as taxis were stressful for many different reasons!

Everything about the hotel is pure quality, from the slick modern shower, to the sink, the massive bed(which is a medium firmness, with a luxurious topper), the views, the service, the air con works perfectly. The interior, the cool industrial design throughout. I needed a kettle & Mugs& bowls, so Zeynab provided me with those no problem.

Stop looking and book this hotel its such amazing value! Trust me you'll need somewhere quiet & comfy to retreat to, after exploring the rest of the city!

Yes, the 'Istanbul Kart' - you can buy it at the train station at the airport. You can just add money whenever you need and tap in when you use trains/metro/bus. For me, as I was walking a lot I used about 20 TL over 3 days.
