Right in the center of the ancient city of Jerusalem, the new BROWN JLM by Brown Hotels blends contemporary urban hospitality with traditional Jerusalem-style elements. The hotel enjoys a remarkable location overlooking Independence Park and the new Museum of Tolerance, right between the popular Nahalat Shiva pedestrian mall on one side and the Mammilla Mall and the Old City walls on the other. Like all Brown hotels in Israel and around the world, Brown JLM provides an up-scale, up-to-date experience, topped by a beautiful infinity pool on the roof overlooking a breathtaking Jerusalem landscape. Brown JLM is housed in a historic 19th-century building that has been carefully preserved and added 6 new floors, providing 46 spacious hotel rooms designed by the Israeli architect Prof. Yossi Friedman. An ancient structure in front of the hotel as well as beautifully preserved painted ceilings in the hotel lobby add to the authentic feel and blend into a modern and stylish design, rich in details and vintage collectors’ items. The hotel offers a plush spa suite with a private hot-tub; an elegant café-bar on the ground floor; an equipped conference room and the highlight - an impressive rooftop terrace overlooking spectacular views with a beautiful infinity pool. The rooftop also offers an outdoor hot-tub and sunbathing area, alongside a rooftop bar where the hotel's breakfast is served. Brown JLM is a pet-friendly hotel, allowing in pets up to 9 KG.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I travel to Israel somewhat often and am used to the different standards that different countries have in many ways. This was my first time at a brown hotel. Their website clearly specified a number of services available at the hotel. Unfortunately it’s a bait and switch. They supposedly offer a breakfast each morning but halfway through my stay it was decided to discontinue food service entirely. No one tells you this in advance in any way. Next after a few days into a multi week stay I try to find the laundry bag that is supposed to be in the room. No bag but also not a big deal. Also no laundry service as advertised just a machine in the basement. Also not the end of the world so I do my own. A week later I go back to do another load and the machine is gone entirely. The front desk staff says the owners decided not to have laundry any more. No notice, in room literature still says laundry, web site still say laundry. I ask where a laundromat is located and no one knows. The staff are very nice and friendly. Management leaves lots to be desired. Oh yeah, the rooms are teeny tiny too.

First the good- location is prime for Jerusalem, close to both historical areas and food/entertainment. That’s about it. Hotel built as an urban hip vibe. Basic design and fixtures interesting. However maintenance has been poor, everything shows wear and tear. Most things working but not so well. Room issues: toilet seat broken, no tissue, lots of scratches. Guests on floor noisy and door/walls thin. Front desk unmanned upon arrival, took 10 minutes until someone showed up. Over three days I saw 4 different people, 100% of time they were on their phones and frequently took a minute or two to respond if I walked up. Not rude, but certainly not welcoming. Breakfast service ok, little fresh fruit like typical Israeli breakfast. I will pass next time.

Positives: - Location is hard to beat for access, proximity to sites, restaurants, neighborhoods... - Bedding was high quality: comfortable pillows, sheets; quality bath products - Staff was generally pleasant and helpful Negatives: - LOUD at night: a crowded area with people outside having fun = much noise - sporadic cleaning services: one day they arrive at 7pm, then don't see them for 2 days...

The hotel is in a really great location within walking distance to the Jaffa gate and wonderful shopping. People there are very friendly. The breakfasts are delicious and abundant. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine. And we had a room with a balcony on the fourth floor, and it was a good size with lots of amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable, especially after such a long journey. There’s a bar on the roof with a lap pool and the water is lovely and cool, which I particularly appreciated after hours of walking through Jerusalem. The hotel overlooks a park so it’s not on a busy street. Half a block behind a Hotel is a promenade, with many little cafés and restaurants to choose from .

This hotel literally ticked every box. Very nice friendly staff, the most superb location walking distance to the Shuk. Very close to Mamila mall lots of food outlets and the magnificent old city. Your position couldn’t be better. The hotel rooms are very comfortable with great amenities the rooms were well cleaned. Breakfast was quaint and tasty with eggs on order and lots of choices. The rooftop pool is very cooI I can’t find a fault here. Had a magic stay and would I be back, without a doubt.

We normally love boutique hotels but after this one no more. We were booked in for 4 nights but moved out after the 1st night. Didn’t even stay for breakfast. We went looking for a hotel to move into. The room was so dirty like it hadn’t been cleaned in forever. I happened to see a cleaner spray the floor in one of the other rooms & just mop done the centre. The shower has no door so the water runs everywhere. We moved rooms but the one was as dirty as the other. No headboard just a piece of glass with curtain in front of it with dirty sprockets & dirty windows. I have never seen so much dust in a hotel room. Dark liquid down the wall. Not hard to wipe it up. I could go on. This hotel needs to do something about housekeeping in a big way. The only nice thing were the 2 ladies at the reception.

Brown JLM Mamilla is a fabulous boutique hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is renovated and extremely clean. The bathroom is clean and well appointed and no mold. The location is perfect. A 10 minute walk to the Western Wall, around the corner from Ben Yehuda St and lots to eat in the area. Very close to the light rail. If you are coming in by train from the airport it’s super easy to get to by taking the light rail outside the Central Station and getting off at the City Hall Stop. It’s also very close to the Mamilla Mall. We highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

We checked in to this hotel hoping it was everything their write and pictures indicated. We were not disappointed. Completely renovated rooms, in room safe and a very nice bathroom with shower stall. It is in a perfect location to walk to the Western Wall in 10 minutes. Right around the corner is Ben Yehuda St where a lot of activity happens. You can take the train from Ben Gurion Airport to Central Station Jerusalem for 18 nis and hop on the tram for 4 nis on Jaffa at and get of at the stop called City Hall There is a roof top pool to relax around. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it and would stay again.
