This hotel is impeccably clean and neat . The rooms are big, bathroom is spacious, glass enclosed, cozy, modern, has hair dryer. TV, small refrigerator, 1 queen bed with massive headboard, side tables, the ceiling of the room has a design that it looks like a tent. Not carpeted, floor is made of stone -very nice, with area rugs. Try their breakfast, is it buffet in a very nice basement area of the hotel. Pictures below is their breakfast area. The other picture overlooking the city is at the top of the building, they have a small garden. The overall look of the hotel is very very nice. Staff, is ok. The guys are quiet, one question one answer. There is one male receptionist quiet but helpful. They have a female person in the reception who is sweet and helpful. She speaks english fluently.
CONS
No hotel is perfect so listen here.
It is inside the Old City, in the heart of the very busy Via Dolorosa near the Damascus gate. Like 5 mins walk from Damascus. If you have heavy luggages this is a challenge because you have to negotiate the staircase at the Damascus gate and the Via Dolorosa which is not flat and a very busy street. You can hire people to carry your luggages I guess for 50 NIS. Another thing, entering the hotel is a high stair. No lift to get to the lobby from the street but there is an elevator inside the building. So again, this can be another hurdle. The only thing that separate the building of the hotel from the street is a door which is locked. You have to use the doorbell to announce your arrival. Another thing I noticed, the corridors are loud at night, you can hear the opening and closing of the doors. There is so much commotion at night. They do not allow unmarried couple in a room. They won’t ask for proof but they will ask. Also, there are no hotel shampoo, soap. Towels are provided though.

Will I stay again ?
Yes ! If I have a short trip to Jerusalem where I don’t have to bring luggages. Like the kind of 1 night stay and 2 days in Jerusalem.

We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced during your stay. Please note our team will look into all your claims and make sure they are resolved for our future guests. We stayed in the Hashimi hotel in January 2020.
Located in the old city it's in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the markets. The hotel entrance immediately takes you up a staircase above all the noise. So you never hear the street below you.

The closest gate to the old city is the Damascus Gate where it is easy to get a cab to bus should you wish to venture further.

Close by are excellent restaurants and all manner of shops.

The Al Aqsa complex is literally a 7 minute walk from the front door so getting to and from the mosque is a doddle.

The hotel is spotlessly clean. My wife is a bit of a clean freak and if she feels comfortable you can be rest assured its clean.

The hotel staff are all incredibly welcoming and friendly as are all the Palestinians we interacted with during our stay. The manager is a very learned and respected man who literally could not do enough to make sure we were looked after.

We stayed in the a newly refurbished room which was very comfortable, brightly lit and did I mention clean?

Our package included breakfast and dinner.

Breakfast is your typical buffet affair with all manner of fresh offerings. There is also an omelette station where you will receive a very large omlette cooked to perfection every morning.
Dinner was also excellent. Day 1 was a variety of cooked meats, bbq style. Day 2 was a really nice rice and chicken dish. Served with a salad.
Everything we ate was really really good.

Tea, coffee and water are available 24/7 in the lobby. The roof terrace has the most amazing view of the Al Aqsa complex, postcard worthy.

Things to note Jerusalam is a very old city, there are lots of steps, the paving blocks have been worn smooth so wear sensible comfortable shoes.
We were never hastled nor did we feel unsafe at any time during our stay in the old city. Even when roaming around late in the evening.

Excellent breakfast and very reasonably priced, not to mention the view of the old city! They allowed us to leave our luggage after checking out and the female receptionist was extremely helpful and provided us with all the necessary information. The only thing I didn't get is why we can't pay by card since we booked the stay and they charged us before checking in. They told us to pay in local currency or euro/dollars which would have been way more expensive than simply paying by card. That was the only inconvenience we had since all ATMs were out of order that day.

We arrived at around 9pm and walked up the stairs from the market streets. The reception area didn't look clean and was full of men. I paid the $360 in cash as they didn't accept credit cards. Once I paid the guy on the reception then said what is your relationship with my partner, and said the hotel policy didn't allow un married couples to share the same room. I asked for my money back, he said the hotel policy is 100% non refundable , it was a joke. I said why didn't you ask this before you took my cash, all he said was its policy. The hotel was dirty and misleading photos, the breakfast terrace was not a breakfast terrace, the breakfast was in the basement. The terrace was dark and dingy and dirty, the lift took us to the breakfast area, there were plates of food strewn all over the tables, it was after 9pm so not sure when these dishes were from.
The reception finally gave me my money back and I asked about any other hotels in the area ( as the wifi didn't work ) he said he didn't know any other hotels. We left

Good day from the Hashimi, We are saddened to hear such a misleading review. Please note that all our rules and policies are clearly written online prior to making a reservation. We would also like to point out that all our photos that are posted online are genuine and are taken at the property, to delegitimize something genuine is very misleading. Please note we have charged your credit as you have requested. We are proud to know that the majority of our guests who stay at our hotel enjoy their stay with us. This can be clearly seen by many of the genuine feedbacks given by our previous guests.

I had booked this hotel some time ago, on their web site.
We finally arrived at the Damascus gate by the shuttle bus Nesher from the airport, we were told you cant drive in the old city, we would have to walk with our hand luggage and bags by the driver. So we set off through the dimly lit market street to find our hotel.
We saw the old battered sign, stating Hashimi Hotel andHostel ( which was a bit worrying ). So we walked up the stairs to the reception. Gave my name and went through the check in process, passport etc and I paid in cash, they don't accept credit cards and prefer dollars ( strange ). The reception was packed with men, it didn't look very clean to be honest. Once I paid the $360 for 3 nights the guy behind the desk asked what our relationship was...I said she is my partner, he then told me the hotel policy is that un married couples cannot share the same room, and that he can give my partner another room ( a single ). I said this is ludicrous, and that when I reserved the room with both mine and Tanyas names this should of flagged this up, surely at that point was to question it not after he had taken the dollars. And it went from bad to worse, once he took my money and told me this, I asked for my money back he said the hotel policy is that it is 100 % non refundable, utter joke. By this time it was after 9pm. I asked if he could inform me of any hotels near here, he said no sorry I don't know of any. I asked if we could use the internet, it was on the 4th floor...we went in the lift, but for some reason we went to what was identified as the breakfast area ( downstairs) the tables were full of dirty plates and food...it was horrible. We got to the roof top and the wfi didn't work. We went back to the reception and demanded my cash back, after some discussion he gave me it back but said my card will be charged the 100%. We left and found a great hotel some 5 mins walk from the Damascus gate. We were actually talking about flying back to Cyprus the next day. Luckily we found a great hotel after this fiasco and enjoyed our time in Jerusalem
The whole experience was crap, the mis representation of the hotel, the web photos showing the breakfast terrace, but in fact it is in the basement, the unhelpfulness of the reception staff
Just give it a big miss

Like all Old city hotels you have to walk to this one so don't take too much luggage! The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Holy Sepulchre and maybe 10 minutes from the Temple Mount. It is easy to find from either the Damascus or Jaffa gates.
There are great views of the Dome of the Rock from the roof terrace and breakfast was very good value. Our room was smaller than I'd have locked but it had enough power sockets and wifi was good.
The only downside for us was the noise - not external noise but the other guests. We stayed 2 nights and both times were woken repeatedly through the night by people shouting and slamming doors. We were always up and gone by 7AM but we were woken between 3 and 5 constantly by inconsiderate guests.

Location is excellent.

Staff were great in giving us a room early just to shower up and change so we would be in time for Friday prayers. Which was kind of them. However they said they will give me a room with a view; but when I got to the room there was no view. I moaned and he simply said I don’t have views for all rooms.

Breakfast is good. not the best selection but sufficient. I’m a tea drinker hated the fact I had to go to the lobby to get cups of tea.

Room is dated; small shower room. Ok

I paid the same rate for intercontinental in Jordan. Very standard family run hotel. I would go there again but don’t expect 4-5 star standards, just for the location it’s ideal

Brilliant hotel with everything you need right in the centre of the old city with fantastic views. Clean, tidy and safe. All staff are extremely helpful especially with an elderly member who had mobility issues. The best bit just a stones throw away from Al-Aqsa Masjid.

I've stayed in plenty of inner city hotels around the world but I must say this is by far one of the best for service and cleanliness.

On an extra note our group always looked forward to the evening meal, not just for the food which was delicious but the talk by the owner about the history of Jerusalem and Islam. Thank you for a very memorable stay.

Yes. We took a "sherut," a shared shuttle located just outside the baggage exit of TLV. Just ask location after you pick up your bags. No reservations needed. When the shuttle is full, they depart. I think it was about 30 sheckels ea.
