The hotel staff is very polite here, but, at the same time, they seem completely unaware how terribly subpar the accommodations are at this hotel. The hotel hallways are lined with old red carpet with no padding underneath, and the hallway walls are painted sloppily (paint running over the edges of door moldings and lighting fixtures) with not enough layers...

We stayed at the Shepherd Hotel during a trip to Jordan to work with Syrian refugees and found it to be a bit run down but met our needs and we would stay there again for the same purpose. The rooms were cleaned daily but the furnishing were older and the refrigerator and phone in the rooms did not work....

This is an older hotel within walking distance to Rainbow Street and many of the important places of old Amman. The staff was helpful. As was shared before, if you do not expect luxury this place is fine. It was clean and had free wifi. I would stay there again as it was quite cost effective.

It's one of the oldest hotels in Amman and so don't expect a modern experience. That said, the renovated room we stayed in for 3 of our nights was quite nice and adequately appointed. In contrast, the un-renovated room we had for the first night was not so good (no AC, dirty, strange marks on the wall, moldy bathroom). Breakfast...

Great location, within walking distance of Rainbow Street and shops, cafes, laundry service or anything you might need. The food was outstanding. Rooms are cleaned everyday. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Shepherd Hotel is remodeling so its going to be even better. There is a great bar, and club attached. I stayed almost a month and it became...

The Shepherd Hotel is a decent place in central Amman - the rates are reasonable, and while, the hotel is older and somewhat run down (chipped tiles in the bathroom, older carpet, telephone not working), the owners (Abu George) are very friendly, and very helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again. The hotel was also quite noisy (street...

I stayed here in December when the hotel was not very busy. On the positive side, the rooms were clean if a little bit faded, and the hotel is convenient for the centre of Amman. At that time of the year the cost was quite reasonable. However, there are several reasons why I wouldn't stay here again. There was no...

Very surly people at reception all the time. Very little hot water-if any. Bad temperature control: While we were here the temperature varied greatly. The night we arrived it was really hot and the air-conditioning didn't work. Subsequently it was cold and we couldn't get warm enough. The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel is that...

We stayed here for a night in July. We booked 3 rooms. We were promised air condition and a certain price. The air condition was in only 1 of the 3 rooms. When we called to ask about the problem or spoke to them in person, there was no apology and no initiative to move us to a room with...

We stay in this hotel 2 different nights for our Egypt trip. This was the worst hotel we have ever stay at and we do travel pretty frequently. The rooms were big but very old. You can not even shut the bathroom doors. The TVs were not working for both nights we were there (we were in different rooms since...

“I enjoyed my stay at the Shepherd Hotel very much. I stayed almost a month and it felt like home. The staff, so many I can't name them all, were extremely friendly and were always willing to help. Because I was a women traveling alone, they all seem to take me under their wing and make sure I was safe and my needs met. I'm sure they do this for all guest. Mohammed, the chef, was fantastic, Marlene and Mustoffa provided great coffee and tea service, Aboo Rashid provided Hotel security, if I ever had a maintenance need, Waeel was always there. Essa, the receptionist was very helpful. The Shepherd hotel is going thru some renovations so I will return. I would recommend Shepherd Hotel to anyone visiting Amman, Jordan.”
