It looks like a castle. The views are great which is really important depending what is going on politically you may not feel comfortable walking around at night so it is great to be able to look out the windows or hang out on the roof and watch life in Old Sanaa. The staff treat you like family. They burned...

Very nice place in Old Sanaa. Rooms are comfortable and full of character (both good and bad). The staff are excellent and do a great job presenting Yemeni hospitality. The breakfast is a great is filling and the view from the rooftop is a great introduction to Old Sanaa. The only drawback is the stairs, which are steep and seemingly...

I really don't understand why others want to see Sana'a but staying outside of the old city. You have to stay inside the old city to get the most authentic surroundings and interacting with the local people. Dawood itself is located in the middle of the old city. I walked around the hotel alone and felt very safe and people...

I checked a couple of the hotels in Sanaa's Old City having spent one night at Dawood already. This hotel is a basic, comfortable stay in the old city. It delivers exactly what it promises and the staff are friendly and hospitable. Yemen is still somewhat behind in terms of tourist infrastructure so the Dawood Hotel is a nice mix...

The hotel is situated in the middle of Old City, so close to the Souqs. Very conveniently accessible from Saila and Souq. The price of the rooms are so reasonable yet you will experience authentic Yemeni traditional hospitality. Ibrahim the front office staff are very helpful. The only downside is the wifi not working properly.

Most of the rare tourists visiting Sanaa these days seem to stay in Felix Arabia Hotel. So I was determined to avoid it. Dawood looked like a perfect alternative. And so it was! Dawood hotel is absolutely lovely… but only for those seeking authenticity and not demanding all comforts and luxury. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better if you are...

There really is no reason to stay anywhere else in Sanaa. The Dawood is located in the center of the Old City, it has unique, traditionally designed rooms, super-friendly staff, incredible views from the rooftop and the ground floor terrace and the prices are quite decent. I had a great time staying here for four nights in April 2013 and...

My stay in Sana'a was really wonderful and I credit my stay here for this. The building itself is very interesting, with a different theme for each room, and with amazing views of the beautiful old city from many of the rooms, as well as a 270 degree arc of view from the roof. I was charmed instantly and captivated...

This magnificent piece of Yemeni architecture, a renovated 200 years old building in the heart of old Sanaa is so center located that captures all the experience of this amazing city. The rooms are traditionally and authentically decorated, clean and spacious with the best view of the old city either from the many windows or the 360 view of the...

The Dawood Hotel is located in the heart of the stunning Old City of Sana'a, one of the most beautiful cities on earth. Sure there are nicer options in the New City, but why somebody would choose to stay there instead on being immersed in the spectacular surrounds of the Old City is a bit of a mystery. Upon check-in...

“I was near the top of the hotel, in the Sana'a room. I loved its decor and views, but I would note that the flights of stairs can be steep, so if that daunts you, a lower room may be more suitable.”
