Great location. Lovely staff. Kitchen was filthy and unable to use with the lack of cleanliness. No breakfast included as advertised. Still had a pleasant stay was very quiet when we stayed but done the job. Kitchen needs improving cleanliness.

I was in a 4 person room that was dark like a cave which made sleeping very nice. The price was very reasonable. It was close to a lot of great restaurants and bars and things to do in Candelaria. The staff was very friendly and everyone staying in the hostel was willing to converse and hang out. I enjoyed...

Musicology hostel is excellently located in La Candelaria and the dorms are dirt cheap. The Hostel has a pretty good vibe to it over all--lots of big dorm rooms, some good common areas and lots of young people. Super high level of disorganization from staff...I basically wasn't placed in the correct bed on my first day, and throughout my stay...

This hostel is decent, especially for the price. Was very chill when I was there, although they have a lot of beds and a lot of space. They could use proper couches in the TV room and the other common rooms. Beds were fine and wifi usually worked well in common areas, cheap breakfast, but it is not included. I'd...

After taking a night bus to bogota we arrived at the hostel at 8am. We were met by the former "manager". After we rang the bell to get in she grumbled at us that "we made her run"... To what? Press the button to open the door remotely. After reluctantly checking us in, we asked if we were able to...

Staff helped as much as they were able but there was little engagement with English speakers. Several areas under some kind of construction with no real explanation. No real vibe beyond chill but to be fair my friend and I didn't frequent the bar.

As the titel says. The owner changed, the hostal as well (no breakfast ect...). But they using their good reputations of the early times. Very sad :-( Dark rooms, very windy and cold, we had problems with the internet (was not working for us).

I think it was a nice place once. With prices for bagpackers including breakfast. But the owner changed 2 months ago. Hes a grumpy gringo. So there is NO breakfast any more, only if you pay extra. Yeah, sometimes you will get tea and bad coffee. We had problems with the Internet. But the stuff couldn't help, they just said,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Musicology Hostel has been one of the few hostels in Bogota that has a long-term tradition. Now, a renewed and refurbished Musicology has opened its doors again to offer new experiences for travelers. Our beautifully-restored colonial house has two patios and hammocks to chill out in. We offer a fully-equipped bar and lounge with reasonably-priced food and drinks, in addition to a daily happy hour. We also offer a common room to watch movies, hang out and free use of DSL internet on our public computers. WiFi is also available at no charge throughout the entire hostel. We recently installed soundproofing in the bar, so you can enjoy our excellent speaker system, while simultaneously enjoying a peaceful rest. All of our breakfast options include unlimited colombian coffee, tea, fresh fruit juice. On our menu, you may choose between such options as fresh croissants, eggs, pancakes, waffles, fruit plates, oatmeal and traditional arepas, toasted with farmers cheese for very reasonable prices. We offer free towels, local calls, use of our guest kitchen, a book exchange, free and secure luggage storage for as long as you need, complimentary use of hostel facilities after check-out time and early check-in at no charge if your room or bed is available. Also, we have laundry service at the hostel. Our reception is 24/7 and there is no curfew or lockout. In addition to the high-quality services we provide, we also pride ourselves in our ecological principles. We are among a handful of hostels in Bogota that recycles; wood used in the hostel from our furniture, to our bunk beds to the bar, and the reception comes from demolition sources. Our amazing staff will be more than happy to assist you with your onward travels, advice on what to do in Bogota and just about anything else you need, so come stay at Musicology and let the music rock your soul!!! ... more   less
