Our Myanmar journey of two weeks in the month of February 2020 began with a two night stay at the Strand. What a terrific introduction to a most interesting city. Such a beautiful historic hotel with impeccable decor.
We stayed in a superior suite with a king bed and a very comfortable sitting area all with the services of our butler. How very special after a long time of walking the city and visiting many sights to return to our room and have our butler bring us cappuccinos. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast in the Strand Cafe. The Strand has a very convenient location that enables one to easily walk all around the city. The hotel lobby is most welcoming and beautifully decorated to enhance all the historic qualities of the hotel. We also took advantage of utilizing the pool area.
After two weeks of our Myanmar journey we had three finale nights at the Strand
The Strand will always be our hotel of choice when next visiting Yangon. More than perfect and every way!!

The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The butler service was a cool experience, and our butler (Lin) was very professional, making sure all our requests were attended to. The cleaning staff were also very attentive and kindly acceeded to our request for more soap bars!

The room was spacious and as promised/advertised. Did not get to use the gym facilities but did use the pool. The pool could have been cleaned better, but to be fair, it was in december and they likely did not expect anyone to be swimming in the morning during the cold weather.

We really loved our stay at The Strand hotel, we had a room on the first floor with a butler desk outside our room. Thank you to our butler Hnin Ya Htwe for the steaming hot coffee on demand, and the fresh fruit, my husband loved the Nashi pears.
The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. We took advantage of the spa and pool area and really enjoyed our couples massage, Thank you to my masseur Phoo Phoo, you have amazing hands, I felt so relaxed after my aromatherapy massage, my husband enjoyed the traditional massage as well. The Pool area is large with comfortable day lounges.
We enjoyed High tea with option for a western style platter or Myanmar high tea. The breakfast spread was impressive, I enjoyed the Energy juice combination which set us up for the day. There is a fantastic shop which sells Burmese artefacts located in the corridor leading to the pool/spa area, the quality and range of items are in my opinion really good, and we purchased a large elephant bell to bring home as a memento of our Myanmar trip. Thank you Chandra for helping us decide, and then going the extra mile to wrap the package for us to take home, a great job and it got home in one piece. Beatrice, lovely to meet you, great to chat to an insider about life in Myanmar. We felt lucky to be able to stay at the Strand, and enjoy what they had to offer, I would highly recommend staying here, the staff really look after you. Thank you.

We stayed for two nights at the end of our three work holiday in Myanmar and what a fabulous end! The hotel is Old Colonial style and our suite was beautiful! Our butler couldn’t do enough for us - he even gave us tips on some places to walk too. We had a dressing area, big bathroom, big bedroom and a lounge/study - all furnished beautifully. The hotel was exceptionally quiet, we saw one man by the pool when we sat there one afternoon. It’s a lovely pool and you’re served with fresh orange juice as you arrive. We saw one other couple at breakfasts which were very good. We really liked the bar area, particularly on the second night as they had a live band playing (I’m so glad they still had them playing even though there were only 6 of us in there). We did a half day tour with our lovely guide. Amongst other sites, we took a ride on the circular train which was fun seeing how the locals jump on carrying stuff to sell. It was quite hair raising seeing how people cross the tracks in front of the train... we asked our guide to drop us to the market where we bought some souvenirs - great cotton cool trousers for around £2.50 each. We then had a look around the shopping centre and then easily flagged down a taxi to go back to the hotel. We had a fun time in the city but 2 nights in Yangon is plenty. This is the best hotel to stay in here by far!!

Beautifully maintained colonial decoration and service in this elegant throwback to British occupation. If you seek style, quiet and quality then you'll get it here - at a price. It's certainly not cheap but you do get what you pay for and can escape from the frenetic hubbub of downtown Yangon

After all the stories I’ve read about the historical
Strand Hotel, I had to stay here for my first visit to Myanmar. The grand façade was very inviting as I entered the hotel, with a seamless check-in to my second floor suite. The hotel was equipped with 24-hour butler service, where mine was extremely diligent and attentive and helped to address all my needs including laundry and parcel retrieval. The breakfast at both the restaurant and pool side were quiet and comfortable, with a delicious, innovative menu. Also, the spa service was fantastic as it allowed me to relax before a flight. The hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance of the Sule Pagoda and main square, and also a few blocks away from some of the better foreigner-friendly restaurants. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to return.

We stayed at The Strand for three nights. The staff our very friendly and helpful, suites are large and comfortable with all the amenities required. A butler service operates on demand and tea or coffee can be made available at any time. Other services are available through your butler but not experienced during our stay. The history of this establishment has been retained throughout its restoration and its furnishings compliment the restoration.

We stayed at The Strand at the beginning of our long weekend break. What a superb hotel! It is old world charm but fit for the 21st Century. The decor as you enter the hotel is stunning; the rooms are charming and luxurious. And their service is impeccable. We dined at both restaurants: the ‘casual’ one where we had an evening meal and breakfast was very pleasant, the food and service was superb. The formal restaurant was such a delight! We had the 4 course tasting menu which was at Michelin level quality and presentation. The whole experience was magical, the staff really looked after us and special thanks must go to Min Ye, Nyan Atet Lin and Atet Paing. And the cocktail bar!! Almost forgot, first class cocktails in a charming setting! I would encourage people to visit this beautiful city; the culture, history and people are worth it!

Stumbled upon the strand hotel in the downtown area and grabbed the promotion deal of the day.

99$ for a high tea, gym access, pool access and a massage for two.

The staff at the spa were amazing from the moment you walk in to the time you leave
Thanks to Yoon Yoon & Phoo Phoo made the day so relaxed and a great massage.

The strand cafe for the High tea and thanks to Naing Lin Oo for always been attentive, welcoming throughout the day and explaining the choices on the menu.

The salt water pool is just at the right temperature and awesome to chill in.

Thanks Strand hotel for the hospitality 😎

I had the privilege to stayed at the strand yangon for two nights in january 2020.It is possibly the best luxury city hotel I've stayed at. This hotel exceeds my luxury expectations. It was meticulously restored from the old law courts of old rangoon My rooms was spacious, tastefully furnished and style. From the fresh flower arrangement, hand made linen ,and so on.It was this attention to details that makes the strand yangon stand out. Their services was warm and attentive.I was consistently address by my name which shows a real attention to customer needs.Especially the front desk they gave a beautiful smile and warm heart to welcome us.Especially, a charming guy, (Luis) is a fluent speaker he was very attentive and helpful ,he can give a details information to us.he made our trip as a worthy. Also arranged a transportation to go to scott market.I would absolutely like to emphasize the truly 5star comfort of this hotel and a particularly professional attentive services. Everything is designed to make you feel good. The concierge will be able to advice you during your stay.Very important in yangon,  the strand hotel has decided to turn to the culture with temporary exhibition which make it even more attractive .In short a drean stay in a dream setting. Over all are amazing. Keep it up the strand.

Dear Madam The Strand has featured as a Yangon landmark for over a century, and so too has the tradition of allowing smoking in Sarkies bar, a rare occurrence within any European or Western establishment. The Strand remains mindful of the issues surrounding passive smoking, and at no time are either our guests or staff subjected to intolerable levels that would directly affect their health, particularly within the confines of our designated smoking area, and we apologize if you experienced any discomfort as a result of our policy. Our staff and management would certainly intervene should the levels of smoke be regarded as either detrimental, or in the interest of public health, although we are fortunate to have not yet been required to address an issue of this nature to date. Kind regards.

Does the hotel accept credit cards (Visa) for payment of incidental expenses

in myanmar only visa is accepted. my american express was not available. my particular bank visa was not accepted in myanmar although my travel friend used her visa. so you need to check with your individual visa provider as myanmar can be "red flagged" by your bank was frustrating. we went through destination asia which was over the top excellent and they handled our tours payments made ahead of time
